HomeMy WebLinkAbout1953-08-03August 3, 1953 The meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 7~15 P.M. in the Town Buil~nS. This was a Public Hearing. Members present: E~..A.n ~1'. Reinhold, Ohairman~ Nicholas Nicetta, Secretary, Richard G. ~hipple, Boward Gilman. An application was received from ~?.Stsvens & Sons Co. per Abbott Stevens, Vice President~ requesting the approval of the Board of a plan of Phillips Court. Phillips Court and the area on both sides is owned by the Stevens Company. ~hey wish to divide this property into individual lots so that the exis$~ing houses may be sold separately. Mr. Abbott Stevens was present and stated that the Comp~u~ wished to dispose of this property and would offer the present occupants .of the homes the chance to buy the houses in which they r eaide, However, Philips Court being a Private W~v, this matter had to approved by the Pla~_n!ng Board. Be stated that Phillips Court was a macadam road, that there were sewer and water facilities. Be stated that they had tried to make the lots involved ~as close to the required size as possible but that there were several lots which could not meet the present requirements. Mr. Brasseur~ who drew the plans was present and explained that the lots were cut up to the best advantage of all concerned and as close to the requirements as it was possible to make them. ~han questioned about the. sewer facilities, he stated that they were adequate for th~ area. Be also stated that the road was in good condition and used regularly. There was no opposition to this application at ~this meeting. Motion was then ~ade and seconded amd it was voted unanimously to take the matter under advisement. There was a lenghty discussion held relative to the sower and drainage problems in this area. Mr. Nicetta felt that the sewer facilities were not adequate and t_he_ other me,here felt the same about it. Motion was made and seconded and it was voted to get an opinion from Mr.. Dully of the Public ~orks Dept. regarding thesewer conditions in this area. MOtion was made and seconded and it was voted that the members of the ~oard would ~eet on Tuesday night August 4~ and go to view .this location so that they would get a better idea of the area and also be able to check on sever, al points regarding the road on Phillips Court. Motionwas ~ade and seconded to hold up the vote on this application until the next meeting until the members had had a chance to view this location and also get a report from Mr. DuffS. Motion was made and seconded and it was voted to adjourn at 9~45 P.M. The next meeting to be h,e~d on AugUSt 10, 1953 at ?~15 P.~.
