HomeMy WebLinkAbout1954-08-0997 August 9, 1954 The meeting was called to ~order by the Ohalrman at 8:50 P.M. in the Town Bu21ding. Members present: Nicholas F. Nicetta,'Ohairmanand Ralph~Finck. This was a special meetin~ With the Advisory Board concerning the planning consultants and proposed re-zoning plan of the Planning Board. Eembers present from the Advisory Board were; Thomas Wilkinson, Chair- man, James Dewhlrst, Job,'Hanson and Hugh Mc01ung. James McClung was present representing the Taxpayer's Association in place of Arnold Salisbury. Mr. Nicetta explained to the Advisory Board that this Planning Board wanted to inform them about what is going on regarding the planning consultants and the re-zoning plan, and would like to get their thoughts on the matter. Letters that the Planning Board had received from the Planning Consultants that had been interviewed, were then passed around to the Advisory Board members to be read and discussed. Mr. James McC1ung, representing the Taxpayer's Assoc. explained the interest his organization has in the re-zoning plan of the Town and that they want to do everything they can to help out with the plan. Mr. John Hanson explained that the Board of Trade has a booklet with suggestions for re-zoning. This has been worked on for two years and is a complete report. Mr. Wilkinson said the Planning Board should get an adequate amoun~ of money in order to carry the plan out properly, but it does not necessarily mean the most expensive consultant. Mr. Nloetta read a list of a proposed 0ommtttee to work with the Planning Board. Mr. Wilkinson stated that the Advisory Board would give their support .to the Planning Board to assist in helping the plan go through. They would be glad to do what they can. They know tBmt it is something that has to be done. Mr. Nicetta explained the necessity of the Master Plan- Which plan re-zones with the future in mind. This costs about $1500. He thinks we should ask for $5000, which would include the Master Plan and would do the Job right. Mr. Wilkinson stated that the Advisory Board. would not want to commit themselves at this time. They would want good clear reasons for asking for that money. ~The Board should have enough information to be able to present it properly to the people at the Town Meeting. After more discussion, it was decided to have another special meeting with the Advisory Board, at which time Mr. Blackwell and Mr. MacNeil, Planning Consultants, will again explain their programs. August 9, 1954- Oont. Letters will be written to these two men, and if possible, hold the meeting on Monday, August 23rd. Mr. Blackwell to appear at 7:00 P.M. and Mr. MacNe l[ at 9: O0 P.M.
