The meeting was called to order at 8..00 P. M. by ~he Chairman. Members' present:
Nicholas F. Nicetta, chairman, John Osgood, Secretary, Ralph Fi~ck, James B~nan
Howard. G~ 1 ~n.
A letter was received from A. Houghton Farnham requesting a change in zoning from
Agricultural to Business at the premises located at Turnpike Street and Berry Street.
Mr. Blac~well was present at this meeting to discuss the Busimess Phase. The present
Business section is up and down Water Street, and up and down Elm Street.
The Board unanimously agreed upon a 225' foot depth from Elm Street to Merr~m~ce Street,
Second to Waverly and May Street on the Westerly side.
Mr. Blackwell then proceeded to write the descriptions in his notes.
Mr. Black~ell bronght up the point that the various 'black dots" on the map which
represent business is a vital item that must be accomplished.
He suggested the Board announce in the paper e]~ persons owning business with the exception
of the present Business district send in a description accompanied by a diagram. It was
then brought to attention the assessors should have an accurate list of all businesses.
The Chairm~n contacted Mr. Lurid, Chairman of the Assessors, and it was decided that the
list of businesses would be given to the B~ard Monday, May 21.
Mr. Gilman made a motion that the clerk secure the various business B~mes and send a
registered ~etter. This motion was not seconded.
Selectmen B~oadhead came before the Board for the purpose of the date of a special Town
Meeting. It was decided appro~m~tely five weeks.
On being question by N~r. Black~ell, Mr. Ftnck counselled that the Public notice of the
Public Hearing whould contsin the whol& text.
It was brought up that Moderator Arthur Thomson ~ould be invited to the meeting, Monday, ·
May 21 for the pm'pose of presenting the text to the Town meeting. Mr. Finck w~ contact
the Moderator.
New business areas discussed were located at Andover, Chickering Road, Ootuit and Peters
street.including Thompsons R~staurant. Also a parcel of land owned by Farr.
