HomeMy WebLinkAbout1959-05-04May 4, 1959 Regular Meeting The regular monthly meeting of the Planning Board was held on Monday, May 4, 1959 at the Town Building. Members oresent and voting were: James M. Bannan, Chairman, Robert Burke', Howard GlO,nan and-Nicholas Nicetta. Bills were signed for: Eagle Tribune Publishing Co. $ 9.00 John R. Hosking Inc. 7.20 New England Tel. & Tel. 9.45 M~ry Doherty - Services Rendered 20.1~ $45,~0 Plans were signed for a Mr. Berry on Tuenpike Street. Mr. Burke read a letter from the Board of Public Worhs stating a performance bond of $6800 for water and sewerage would be required for Subttrban Household Company on Water Street. Mr. Chalres Stutudi and Edward Cash were also present at the meeting and asked what other requirements wotuld be needed. Mr. Gilman moved to allow Suburban to go ahead as requested provided they have a bond for 86800 suitmble to the Board of Selectmen. Mr. Burke seconded the motion. Unanimous vote. The Board pointed out a letter from the Highway Department would be required showing the amount of Bond necessary for the Street Work. Mr.Anderson apoeared before the Board and pointed out he is building houses on Sylvan Terrace and the drainage is supposed to be connected ~ith drains on Woodstock Street but as yet Mr. Marino has not installed the drains on this street. Mr. Anderson asked what could be done as he Mould like to co~plete the homes he is ~uilding. Mr. N~cetta stated he felt Town Counsel should go over this matter. Mr. Sam D~auro appeared before the Board and stated he felt the Zoning By Law similar to that of ~.~o%~s should be amended so that it would allow the erection of Garden Anartments. Mr. N~cetta stated he felt a new section would h~ve to be inserted in the By Law. A discussion was held on th~s m~tter and Mr. Burke moved to write to several consultants asking if they wo~Lld be interested in appearing before the Board to discuss this matter. Mr. Gilman seconded the motion. UnaniE~ous vote. Mr. Albert Steinberg, 1159 0sgood Street appeared before the Board aud asked how he would go about to h~ve his land reclassified as he would like to have a golf course on the land. Mr. Gilman moved that if Mr. Steinberg could h~ve the necessary information before the 15th of May, a Public Hearing be held on June 1. Mr. Burke seconded the motion. Unanimous vote. Mr. Burke read a letter from the Personnel Board regarding the reclassification of Mrs. Mary Doherty, Clerk of the Board. Mr. Burke movsd~thst Mr. Barman act as delegate to the Regional Planning Commission. Mr. GiLman seconded the motion. Unanimous vote. Mr. Burke also moved that Mr. Nicetta act as alternste to the Commission. Mr. Gilman seconded the motion. Unanimous vote. Letters were ~Titten to Jokn Linehan of Methuen, Donald Thompson of Andover and the City of Lawrence Planning Boards inforrdng them of the representatives from North Andover. Mr. Gilman moved that the meeting ~djourn at 9:30 PM. Mr. ~urke~seconded the motion. Unani~.ous vote. £
