HomeMy WebLinkAbout1967-06-17Saturday - June 17, 1967 Special Meet~ ~g - The Plann/ng Board held a special meeting on Saturday morning, June 17, 1967 at !0:00 A.M. in the Town Office Building. This meeting was called in order to vote on the Subdivision hearings held on June 5, 1967. The following members were present aad voting: William Chepulis, Chairm~_n; Robert J. Burke, Vice Chairm--; Howard Gilman, Secretary; George B. Farley and James M. Barman. 1. Sherwood Homes: The definitive plan had been submitted to the Board on June 12th. The Board looked over the plans and agreed that no significant difference existed betweeu the preliminary plan discussed at the hearing and the definitive plan subsequently ~ub- mitted. A letter was read from John Shields as to the recommendations and requirements sent to h~m by the Highway Dept. regarding the roadway. Mr. Gilman made a motion to defer any decision ore.the High~ay Dept. Is recommendations until an opinion is received from Town Counsel as to conflict of powers and juris- diction. The Highway Surveyor does not have the authority to tell the developers what has to be done. He has to go by the Subdivision Rules and Regulations that are in effect. Upon studying the plans submitted, the Board discussed the turnaround and the possibility of extending the roadway to the lot line since there is still alot of empty land abutting for future possible developments and the roadways could connect. Mr. Bannan made a motion that the turnaround be extended to the lot line so that if a future developer comes in he may connect with another road. There was further discussion held on the motion. Mr. Chepulis seconded the motion. Mr. Burke and Mr. G~l,~ questioned the advisability of extending the roadway. They feel that Mr. Shields should a~ meet with them and they can talk everyth4ng over. Mr. Barman then ~ changed his motion to hold the decision in abeyance. The Board has 60 days in which to make a decision. Withhold any action pending further complete detail being submitted to the Board . Mr. Burke seconded the motion and the vote weS un~L~iS. The Board will meet on Tuesday evening, ~ July 11, 1967. (Mr. Barman had to leave the meeting). 2. TERRA FIRNA - Oh~lifottr Subdivision. The Beard again discussed the hearing and looked over the plans. Mr. Burke made a motion to approve the Subdivision subject to c~mplying with the requirements of the various departments and the usual conditions. Mr. Gilman seconded the motion and the four remaining members mede it a unanimous vote. 3. RALPH HENRY SUBDIVISION: The Board looked at the plans and the profiles and discussed it again. Mr. Burke made a motion to approve the subdivision subject to the usual conditions and requirements. Mr. Gilman seconded the motion. Three members voted in favor of the J~ne 17, 19~7 - Cont. subdivision. Mr. Chepulis voted against it because he felt that the roadway should come to the end of the lot line. SYLVAN TERRACE: David Roche requested a partial release of his subdivision bond for Sylvan Terrace, for lots 1, 2, 3 and 8. ~ro Burke made a motion to approVe the partial release. Mr. Farley seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous. A letter was received fr~ Ben 0sgood saying that he ha~ repaired the trench on Chickering Road as had been requested by the Board of ~hlic Works and the Pla~' Board.
