CALL TO ORDER: Keith Mitchell called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
ATTENDANCE: The following board members were present: Keith A. Mitchell, Chairman;
Donald B. Stewart;William B. Duffy, Jr., James M. Xenakis, and John R. Leeman, Jr.
Also present was Robert J. Halpin, Town Manager
PRE SPECIAL TOWN MEETING DISCUSSION
John Leeman made a MOTION, seconded by Donald Stewart to recommend favorable action on all
warrant articles as revised. Vote approved 5 — 0.
APPOINTMENTS
Historical Commission
Donald Stewart made a MOTION, seconded by John Leeman,to appoint Linda Tremblay to the
Historical Commission for a three-year term through June 30, 2002.
Vote approved 5 — 0.
Keith Mitchell called a recess at 6:55 p.m. in order for the Board to attend the Special Town Meeting.
Keith Mitchell re-convened the meeting at 7:35 p.m.
PUBLIC HEARING
Classification and Taxation of Property According to Use—FY2000
Garrett Boles reviewed the impact of various levels of classifications based on estimates of the various
property values by classification and various shifts in rate in order for the Board to decide whether or
not to shift the level of taxation of the commercial classes.
John Leeman made a MOTION, seconded by Donald Stewart,to classify the commercial and
industrial property tax rate at a level of 16%above the residential rate. Vote approved 5 — 0.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business,William Duffy made a MOTION, seconded by Donald Stewart,to
adjourn the meeting at 7:48 p.m. Vote approved 5 — 0.
