HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005-03-14 Board of Selectmen Minutes (2) BOARD OF SELECTMEN MINUTES MARKCH 14, 2005 CALL TO ORDER: Rosemary Connelly Smedile called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM at Town Hall Meeting Room. ATTENDANCE: The following were present: Rosemary Smedile, Chairman; Wendy Wakeman; James Xenakis; Donald B. Stewart; Mark J.T. Caggiano; Mark Rees, Town Manager; Ray Santilli, Assistant Town Manager. EXECUTIVE SESSION: Wendy Wakeman made a MOTION, seconded by Mark Caggiano, to move into Executive Session to discuss Collective Bargaining, Bargaining with non-union employees, and pending litigation. Vote approved 5-0. The Board of Selectmen was individually polled and each voted to move into Executive Session. Donald Stewart yes; James Xenakis yes; Mark Caggiano yes; Wendy Wakeman yes, and Rosemary Smedile yes. Vote approved 5-0. COMMUNICATIONS,ANNOUNCEMENTS, AND PUBLIC COMMENT: Legotrons Certificates of Appreciation Rosemary Smedile congratulated the North Andover Legotrons on winning First Place in the LEGO Robotics State Competition. This team will represent Massachusetts in the First Lego International Championship in Atlanta, GA in April. Certificates of Appreciation were given to Connor Murphy, Jonathan Tan, James Williams, Jake Besen, Kanav Kathuria, Jonathan Touchette, Trevor Gordon and their coachs Peter Besen and Steve Gordon. Reserve Police Officer Appointments Wendy Wakeman made a MOTION, seconded by James Xenakis, to formally appoint the following eleven candidates as Reserve Police Officers: Patrick M. Noonan, Thomas H. Boettcher, Brian L. Faye, Jason R. Bonenfant, Stephen M. Diminico, Eric J. Sewade, Joseph J. Shola, Jarrad J. Lawlor, Brendon J. Gallagher, Jason K. Wedge, Christopher G. Ferguson. Vote approved 5-0. CONSENT ITEMS: LICENSING COMMISSIONERS: PUBLIC HEARINGS: OLD BUSINESS: NEW BUSINESS: Mark Caggiano made a MOTION, seconded by James Xenakis, to place article EE regarding the Police Station Block including the Greenery property to be rezoned to General Business. Vote approved 5-0. Mark Caggiano made a MOTION, seconded by James Xenakis, to place article FF regarding the rezoning of the parcels on Turnpike Street from Block Buster Plaza through the Jasmine Plaza including both sides of Rte. 114 to be rezoned to General Business. Vote approved 5-0. TOWN MANAGER'S REPORT: ADJOURNMENT: Mark Caggiano made a MOTION, seconded by Wendy Wakeman, to adjourn the meeting at 10:15 PM. Vote approved 5-0. Adele J.
