HomeMy WebLinkAbout2007-11-26 Board of Selectmen Minutes BOARD OF SELECTMEN MINUTES NOVEMBER 26, 2007 CALL TO ORDER: James Xenakis called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM at North Andover High School Room 1108. ATTENDANCE: The following were present: James Xenakis, Chairman; Thomas Licciardello; Rosemary Connelly Smedile; Daniel P. Lanen; Mark J.T. Caggiano; Mark Rees, Town Manager; Ray Santilli, Assistant Town Manager. OLD BUSINESS: Discussion for Fire Chief search The Board agreed to do an internal posting for the Fire Chief position. The Board would ask for a preliminary letter of interest and resume from multiple applicants. If an external search is made, it would be advertised in a Trade Journal asking for qualified candidates from Massachusetts. Town of North Andover Drinking Water Bond The Board was asked to accept and sign the Drinking Water Bond from the Massachusetts Water Pollution Abatement Trust in the amount of$5,532,288, which was approved on June 5, 2006 (Article 25) for the drinking water project. Mark Caggiano made a MOTION, seconded by Thomas Licciardello, to accept and sign the Drinking Water Bond. Vote approved 5-0. TOWN MANAGER'S REPORT: The Department of Public Health notified homeowners that currently have private wells that provide their homes with drinking water about reported odors in their drinking water and possible contamination. Homeowners were advised to have their water tested by the Mass DEP. The results of the MassTrack ranking of the state's cities and towns are posted on the masstrack.org website and the town of North Andover was rated number 2 in Massachusetts as a Tech friendly town for businesses. The town ranked 171 in the year 2006 and jumped to the number 2 position in year 2007. This was determined by the municipality's faster permitting processes for expanding high-tech companies searching for office space. ADJOURNMENT: Mark Caggiano made a MOTION, seconded by Thomas Licciardello, to recess the meeting at 6:45 PM until the Special Town Meeting begins at 7:00 PM. Vote approved 5-0. Adele J.
