Discussion Topics Summar
• Kyle Palladino introduced himself to the Board. Kyle is a new hire at the YC.
• Town Clerk, Joyce Bradshaw was present to swear in the Board.
• Jonathan Hurtig introduced himself as our newest Board member.
• Rick reviewed his Director's Report...Specifically like to highlight the following:
- Demi reviewed the Fall Programs
- Full complement of programming!
- Review of the September Newsletter(Thanks,Kyle!)
- Rick discussed staffing.
- Review of the Summer 2017 Programs
- GREAT summer! Best yet!
- Thanks to the Herman Foundation for the grant for leadership
retreat. "Good Enough Isn't"
- 9 week summer of programming.
- NAYRS Staff recognized officially by the Board of Selectmen!
- Question -how do we keep the 8th graders engaged throughout
the year'? New initiatives coming this year. PArtnership with
parents.
- Big high school numbers turning out for 2017-2018.
- NAMS kids -clubhouse,NAHS kids
- Good start-busy-this fall.
- Collaboration with School Dept continues
- 25 kids on scholarship right now....75-100 total for the year, so
we are on track. Demographics in town continue to shift, require
us to be flexible with our scholarship programming. Working
with NAPS,Woodridge,NAHA
- Herman Grant update...Joseph N Herman Foundation - supports
the NAYC....fundraising efforts throughout the year to support
programs for NAYRS
- American Tower awarded $5000 grant for outdoor street hockey
- Roberts Family
- Cow's Rock gift
• Rick Follow-ups with new Board members and Town Officials
- Rick will reach out to Jon Hurtig and Dan Moore to meet
- Rick will reach out to Andrew Maylor to invite to our January Meeting
• Needs Assessment Update
- Kevin received an update from Kate Kurkul at Merrimack College
- The assessment ran into a couple of delays around MCAS and NAPS schedules
in the Spring Term,but we are on schedule for December/January release of final
draft.
- Evening Meeting with both boards NAYRS and Herman present TBD to review
final outcomes.
