HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005-08-22 Board of Selectmen Executive Minutes BOARD OF SELECTMEN EXECUTIVE MINUTES AUGUST 22, 2005 EXECUTIVE SESSION: The Executive Session convened at 7:10 p.m. ATTENDANCE: The following were present: Rosemary Connelly Smedile, Chairman; James Xenakis; Donald Stewart; Thomas Licciardello, Mark Rees, Town Manager; Ray Santilli, Assistant Town Manager and Town Counsel Thomas Urbelis. Mark Caggiano was absent. The Board of Selectmen was individually polled and each voted to move into Executive Session. Vote approved 4-0. Bargaining with Union Emolovees Assistant Town Manager Ray Santilli said that a tentative settlement has been reached with the AFSCME Clerical group on a new collective bargaining agreement for three-year period of July 1, 2005 through June 30, 2008. The major terms of the settlement include a wage increase of 2.5% in each of the three years of the agreement. And a new maximum step 2% higher will be implemented on January 1, 2008 in exchange for agreement to certain town proposals. Terminal leave at the time of an employee's retirement has been reduced to a maximum of 20 days, sick leave of 4 weeks for future employees. The AFSCME Clerical group negotiation team signed a formal MOA and the Board of Selectmen /1 was asked to approve and sign the MOA. James Xenakis made a MOTION, seconded by Thomas Licciardello, to approve and sign the MOA settlement with the AFSCME Clerical group. Vote approved 4-0. The Board would be asked to sign and ratify the contract at their next meeting. Negotiations with Firefighters Union Assistant Town Manager Ray Santilli said that negotiations would start on September 6, 2005 with the Firefighters Union. ADJOURNMENT: Thomas Licciardello made a MOTION, seconded by Donald Stewart, to move out of Executive Session. Vote approved 4-0. Respectfully submitted, Adele J. Johnson, Administrative Secretary
