EXECUTIVE SESSION: The Executive Session convened at 7:00 P.M.
ATTENDANCE: The following were present: Rosemary Connelly Smedile, Chairman; James Xenakis;
Daniel P. Lanen; Thomas Licciardello, Mark Rees, Town Manager; Ray Santilli, Assistant Town Manager;
Fire Chief William Dolan; and Deputy William Martineau.
Selectman Mark Caggiano was absent.
The Board of Selectmen was individually polled and each voted to move into Executive Session. Vote
approved 4-0.
Bargaining with Union Employees
Pending Litigation
The Town Manager had a conversation with Mr. John Marsh who expressed his amazement and
displeasure about the amount of publicity that he received about the ball field. The Eagle Tribune sports
editor's son participates in the youth little league and that is how the story got to the newspaper and the
channel 7 news.
Mr. Marsh asked when the netting was going to be put up. He suggested that he may be willing to come
to an agreement with the Town if he had a commitment from the Town. If he received a guarantee that
^ the net is put up as soon as possible, then in turn he would allow the little league to play ball in the park.
The Town Manager asked the Board to approve writing a commitment letter saying that the Town intends
to move forward with installing the netting in a timely manner. The Town would pay the$10,000 from the
Field Maintenance Account funded by a$25,000 donation from a former project by Lou Minicucci's.
ADJOURNMENT:
James Xenakis made a MOTION, seconded by Daniel Lanen, to move out of Executive Session. Vote
approved 4-0.
