HomeMy WebLinkAbout2007-09-17 Board of Selectmen Executive Minutes BOARD OF SELECTMEN EXECUTIVE MINUTES SEPTEMBER 17, 2007 EXECUTIVE SESSION: The Executive Session convened at 7:00 P.M. ATTENDANCE: The following were present: James Xenakis Chairman; Thomas Liociardello; Daniel P. Lanen; Mark J.T. Caggiano; Rosemary Connelly Smedile, Mark Rees, Town Manager; Ray Santilli, Assistant Town Manager. The Board of Selectmen was individually polled and each voted to move into Executive Session. Vote approved 5-0. Also joining the Board were members of the School Committee, the following were present: William Kelly, Barbara Whidden, Christine Allen,Timothy Pybus, Charles Ormsby Note: Daniel Lanen recused Neaotiations with union employees Note: Daniel Lanen returned Town Manager's Evaluation Chairman Xenakis said based on the information and feedback he received from members of the Board that chose to participate in the process by close of business Friday. The evaluations were very positive in all areas except a common theme was that the Manager be more assertive as a leader. In the Town Managers contract there is an automatic 3% cost of living adjustment. The Chairman received a consensus that the Manager be given a 3% performance bonus for this one-year, but not added onto his base pay. Selectman Lanen asked a question whether the existing base pay included one-week buyback vacation and 70% payback in health insurance Ray Santilli answered that the Manager's contract allowed a one-week buyback vacation and the Chairman of the Board allowed the 70% payback in health insurance to be included in the manager's base pay. Mark Caggiano made a MOTION, seconded by Thomas Liociardello, to acknowledge the 3% miss already in the contract and awarding the Manager a one-time 3% performance bonus. Vote approved 4- 0-1. Daniel Lanen abstained. ADJOURNMENT: Mark Caggiano made a MOTION, seconded by Thomas Licciardello, to move out of Executive Session and adjourn at 10:20 p.m. Vote approved 5-0.
