EXECUTIVE SESSION: The Executive Session convened at 6:30 p.m.
ATTENDANCE: The following were present: Chairman Daniel P. Lanen;Vice Chairman Richard A.
Nardella;
Clerk William F. Gordon; Licensing Chairman Tracy M. Watson; Rosemary Connelly Smedile;Town
Manager Mark Rees;Assistant Town Manager Ray Sanfilli.
Rosemary Smedile made a MOTION, seconded by Tracy Watson, to move into Executive Session to
discuss Collective Bargaining and take NO ACTION on Personnel Matter. Roll Call vote: William
Gordon yes, Rosemary Smedile yes, Richard Nardella yes, Tracy Watson yes and Daniel Lanen yes.
Vote approved 5-0.
Chairman Daniel Lanen declared that an open meeting may have a detrimental effect on the bargaining
position of the Selectmen.
Collective Bargaining—Communications Officers
Ray Sanfilli said that the Board of Selectmen and the Communications Officers(AFSCME Council 93,
Local 2978)has a tentative agreement. The Communications Officers has ratified a Union Contract
consisting of a one-year contract from July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2010 and a three-year contract to be
in effect July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011 All Communication Officers will be trained and certified as
Emergency Medical Dispatchers and have accepted a$750 stipend when certified. The Board was
requested to accept and ratify the contract.
Note: Daniel Lanen recused
Rosemary Smedile made a MOTION, seconded by William Gordon,to ratify the contract with the
Communications Officers consisting of a one-year contract from July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2010 and
a three-year contract to be in effect July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2013. All Communication Officers will
be trained and certified as Emergency Medical Dispatchers and have accepted a $750 stipend when
certified.
Roll call vote approved Tracy Watson, yes, Richard Nardella, yes, William Gordon,yes and Rosemary
Smedile yes, 4-0.

Note: Fire Chief Melnikas and Labor Counsel Tim Norris were present

ADJOURMENT:
Tracy Watson made a MOTION, seconded by William Gordon, to move out of Executive Session. Vote
approved 5-0.
