Sustainability Committee
Meeting Minutes for November 13, 2018 North Andover Sustainability Committee
Location: DPW
1. Attendees:

2. Introductions from all members
3. Joanna explained the RDP program and gave members some background on the grants we
applied for and what the funds (if we get them)will be used for.
4. Joanna provided an update on our textile bin at Holt Rd.
5. Lake Clean-Up was highly successful, and the harbormaster will help us on Earth Day
6. Big Hearted Books (which includes Got Books) went bankrupt, taken over by Discover
a. We might get some help with moving the textiles to our bin
b. Bay State collects textiles from our bin and provides revenue to the committee
7. The committee discussed Rain Barrels—We decided we will open it on December 1stand start
taking orders for delivery at next year's Town Wide Clean Up.
8. Compost bin update
9. January 91h Wednesday—time 6:30?Showing "Before the Flood" at Stevens Library—the
committee should try to preview it.Julie Ross volunteered to lead post-movie discussion.
a. We should approach PTO
b. Shoba will find out if we could put something in Tax Newsletter.
10. Vishvesh has the frame built for his interactive park bench, and is working on adding the
interactive screens
a. Vishvesh asked if the committee could write a letter to MIT to ask for help.The
committee agreed.
11. Upcoming meetings. Dec 411 and January 811
12. Bryan reminded Craig and Julie to contact Chris McClure to receive login instructions for town e-
mail addresses.
13. Google docs are available on the Google e-mail platform. Right now we keep our e-mail list,
google form, and responses to Google form.
14. Girl Scouts want to post a page to our website—We voted yes.
15. Active Facebook page is Green North Andover/NA Sustainability Committee
16. We discussed getting sponsers for reusable bags—we need more!
17. Kevin and Julie will get sworn into the committee by Town Clerk
18. Environmental Science class helped with the Thompson School Clean-Up
