HomeMy WebLinkAbout2018-01-08 Historical Commission Minutes NORTH ANDOVER HISTORICAL COMMISSION MINUTES from January 8, 2018 NOT PRESENT - Pat Long I. MINUTES _ The minutes were accepted as read. II.197 HIGH STREET - Kathy Szyska, Jan Williams and Carol Majahad toured the house at 197 High Street on December 18, 2017. They described to the Commission members the condition of the interior of the house. The Commission reviewed the terms of the Demolition Delay By-Law. George Hughes , representing Jeff Co , told the Commission that his company if they purchased the property, planned to demolish the existing structure and construct a duplex on the property. Kathy Szyska, Chairman,stated that a permit for demolition can only be granted to the owner of the property. After further discussion this matter was tabled until the February meeting of the Commission. III. OLD BURYING GROUND - The Commission will follow Mr. Santilli's directive and send a letter to Mr. McGregor to make sure that his October, 2017 bid to install a gate at the Old Burying Ground in the spring of 2018 remains the same. IV. NORTH PARISH CHURCH CELL TOWER - After discussion the Commission agreed that Kathy Szyska, Chairman, will contact the Town Attorney and ask her to review the agreement document and give input and suggestions. C.J. Gangi specifically mentioned that any agreement letter should be detailed and specific. NEW BUSINESS V. NAMING THE NEW KINDERGARTEN - C.J Gangi moved that the Commission support the name ANNE BRADSTREET KINDERGARTEN. The motion passed unanimously. The unanimous suggestion will be forwarded to the School Committee. VI.THANKS - Anne mentioned that Richard Kulpinski, who recently passed away, for many years planted begonias in the historical watering trough which was first located on Main Street and then relocated to Chestnut Street. Mr. Kulpinski's faithful gardening helped to preserve a piece of North Andover's history. VII. MEETING ROOM - There was a discussion about the new "limit" of seven chairs in the downstairs meeting room. This is not suitable for our public meetings if any members of the public want to attend. Kathy offered to look into other available rooms in Town Hall. THE NEXT MEETING OF THE NORTH ANDOVER HISTORICAL COMMISSION WILL BE HELD ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 2018, AT 7PM AT TOWN HALL.
