HomeMy WebLinkAbout2016-10-11 Historical Commission Minutes NORTH ANDOVER HISTORICAL COMMISSION Minutes from meeting held October 11,2016 Not Present: Jan Williams I.VERIZON INSTALLATIONS in the Old Center area - in two locations Kathy Szyska (chairman) read aloud the Verizon letter. The Commission members discussed the two locations before taking a vote. The Commission voted unanimously that they had no objection to the Osgood Street Chickering Road location. A majority of Commission members voted against the Verizon installation in the Academy Road location."The Historical Commission is a Town entity charged with preserving the historical integrity of our Town" The Chairman will send a letter to Verizon stating these results. II.BERRY STREET DEVELOPMENT - Kathy urged Commission members to drive by the site which is projected to be completed by January. We have been invited to tour the replica office club house building which is now complete. III. OLD BURYING GROUND PROJECT- A. One final stone repair is needed. The Commission will ask for an extension of the current RFP so that the remaining CPA funding can be used when the Fannins can complete this repair (probably in the spring of 2017). B. An actual date to celebrate the completion of the OBG project has not yet been set. Commission members discussed possible dates in the fall of 2017. C.Jim Wefers reported on conversations with Al McGregor with whom he has consulted to find a suitable iron gate for the Academy Road entrance. It was suggested that we should ask Mr. McGregor to attend a Commission meeting in the near future. D. The search for a creator of model gravestones (for rubbing) was discussed. Anne said she should contact Worker Workshop at Davis and Furber which does create objects using 3-D printers. IV. PHILLIPS COURT -Kathy Szyska said that she had had several conversations with a resident of Phillips Court who expressed interest in working to create a historic district in that area 9similar to Machine Shop Village). V. THE BRADSTREET SCHOOL PROJECT - Commission members shared information about what was happening at the Brad street School Development site. THE NOVEMBER MEETING OF THE NORTH ANDOVER HISTORICAL COMMISSION WILL BE ON MONDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2016 AT 7PM IN THE CONFERENCE ROOM OF THE NEWLY RENOVATED TOWN HALL.
