HomeMy WebLinkAbout2017-10-16 Historical Commission Minutes NORTH ANDOVER HISTORICAL COMMISSION Minutes from meeting held October 16, 2017 Absent: Anne Ericson and Pat Long I. Minutes from the September meeting were accepted as read. II. NORTH PARISH CHURCH - cell tower in steeple project - Keith Wentzel explained the NPC project A.Mr. Wentzel said that Verizon representatives had approached the church over a year ago about the cell tower project. B. The project requires two changes for the meeting house. 1.Steeple louvers must be replaced with fiber glass louvers. 2.An outdoor enclosure will be needed. C. Commission members mentioned the restrictions in the existing Preservation Restriction held by the NAHC (use of similar materials for repair or replacement) 1. Questions were asked about fading in fiber glass. 2. The MHC stated that the wooden louvers should be saved in case of eventual change. (note: the existing louvers are wooden but they have been replaced during this century) D. The Commission members agreed that if the project were approved a notarized legal document stating conditions would be necessary. Mr.Wentzel was reminded that the project must also be approved by the OCHD Commission. E. Mr. Wentzel will attend the November meeting of the Commission. He will bring a sample of the fiber glass material. III. OLD BURYING GROUND A. C.J Gangi reported on recent vandalism at the OBG. He said one stone has been written on. The NAPD has agreed to send a patrol car to the OBG several times a week after school dismissal hours. B. Jim Wefers reported that Al McGregor has proposed a cost of $2400 to replace the iron gate. Jim will bring a written proposal from Mr. McGregor to the November Commission meeting. NEW BUSINESS: Carol Majahad explained that George Hathaway has asked for Commission approval to use real names of Frye's Regiment in his book. The Commission does not have that power of approval. THE NEXT MEETING OF THE NORTH ANOVER HISTORICAL COMMISSION WILL BE MONDAY, NOVEMBER 13, AT 7PM IN TOWN HALL
