WELCOME to Martha Wolfenden,the new member of the NAHC II.OLD CENTER DISTRICT Rezoning Committee...C. J. Gangi represented the NAHC at the meetings held during the summer.C.J. Reviewed the existing usage options for Old Center buildings. The current question is to determine possible uses for 800 Mass. Avenue, originally the Textile Museum, which is owned by the Historical Society. Other problems for possible uses include lack of parking and mold in the building. It is likely that the problem will go back to the Town Planning Board. III.OLD BURYING GROUND ...Jim Wefers reported that the entrance gate has been installed by the McGregor Company. The Commission agreed to send a thank you letter to Mr. Al McGregor noting his valuable assistance in this process. IV. PHILLIPS ACADEMY PROJECT in the OBG...Kathy Szyska (Chair) reported that Dr. Slater and his students will begin their investigation of the OBG in September...using twenty- first century methods. Dr. Draper and Carol Majahad will select a date for a public description of the project to be given at the Society. This will be a two-year project. A. Kathy Szyska met with the Town Attorney to check out any problems of liability. She was told that this project falls under recreational use of Town property. V. ANNE BRADSTREET ECC... The Commission discussed how the granite lettering saved from the demolished Bradstreet School should be used on the grounds of the Anne Bradstreet ECC which opened this school year. The Commission agreed to send a letter to the School Committee on this matter. VI. SOLDIERS AND SAILORS MEMORIAL... The Commission members discussed the landscaping improvements needed to display and respect this important statue which is situated on the grounds of the School Administration Offices. This project will be revisited at the October meeting. VII. CHRONICLES...After an explanation was given a motion was made and passed unanimously to approve the digitizing of copies of the Cochickewick Chronicles. THE OCTOBER MEETING OF THE NORTH ANDOVER HISTORICAL COMMISSION WILL BE HELD ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 9, 2018, AT 4PM IN TOWN HALL.
