NORTH ANDOVER HISTORICAL COMMISSION MINUTES FROM APRIL 8, 2019 MEETING
MEMBERS NOT PRESENT: Carol Majahad,Jan Williams
I .STEVENS ESTATE...FUTURE
A) Information from Town Officials; Lynn Savage and Laurie Burtzleff
1) Stevens Estate has not done enough business to break even in the past six months, The RFP due at
the end of December only got one bid. A second RFP was sent out and bids are due May 1.
2) ARTICLE 7 ON THE WARRANT FOR THE MAY TOWN MEETING CONCERNS THE
CONSERVATION OF THE WATERFRONT AND APPROXIMATELY 135 ACRES OF THE ESTATE.
3 )C.J. Gang asked what historic protections exist for the buildings. Reference was made to the
provisions held by MASS. HISTORIC COMMISSION.
4) Commission members expressed concern that future plans for the estate had not been shared at all
with the people of North Andover.
II.OLD BURYING GROUND
A. Kathy shared the new OBG booklet sponsored by Kathy Stevens and written by Debb Putnam. The
booklet is available at the Historical Society.
B. Kathy discussed the storage of stone fragments which remain at the OBG. We may be able to store
the fragments in the Parson Barnard Barn.
III. CPA PROJECTS - C.J. shared CPA projects to be considered at Town Meeting.

D.Historic Fire Pumper returned from Londonderry
IV. OTHER TOPICS - JIM WEFERS DESCRIBED HOW HE LOCATED A FRANKLIN MARKER ON
CHESTNUT STREET. He and Jay Dow will take photos of the historic marker.
V. SOLDIERS AND SAILORS MONUMENT - We agreed to contact the Garden Club about new pruning
and planting needed around this monument.
NEXT MEETING SCHEDULED FOR MAY 13,2019.
NOTE : THE NEXT MEETING OF THE NAHC WAS HELD ON APRIL 29,2019.THIS WAS HELD AS A
PUBLIC MEETING TO ALLOW CITIZENS TO SPEAK ABOUT THE FUTURE OF THE STEVENS
ESTATE.
REMINDER TO NAHC MEMBERS... WE WILL MEET MONDAY, JUNE 3, AT 4PM IN THE
SELECTMAN'S MEETING ROOM. THE TOPIC WILL BE THE FUTURE OF THE STEVENS ESTATE
AND ACTIONS THAT WILL BE CONSIDERED AT THE SPECIAL TOWN MEETING ON JUNE 18.
