Youth Council Meeting Minutes
Attendance: P. Breen, H. Williams, J. Sideri, K. Driscoll, R. Gorman, D. Tetrault,
D.Moore, T. Holland, L. Allen, A. Firmin, D. Casey, R. Keane
Absent: J. Hurtig
1. Rick Opened with a Welcome Back update on Summer 2019.
Highlights included Increased Memberships for Summer Fun Programming,
Popularity growing for Concert Attendance, Big Crowds at the kids shows. One
low-light was that fir the first time in years, Steven's Pond Beach had a 6 day
closure due to bacteria levels above the state guidelines.
- Podcasts are back, please tune in!
- YC opens for 2019-2020 season on 9/28
- Ropes Course is closed temporarily due to a lapse in insurance coverage, RG on
it!
- Town Manager will be attending the next Council Meeting
- Demi getting married (YAY!) and will be away for the first couple weeks in
October.
2. Herman Grant Proposal
- New this year is the requested timing change on considering and submitting the
Herman Foundation Grant Proposal. The Herman Foundation wished to
deliberate and vote on the Grant for FY21 in the fall, moving forward.
- Rick and Demi presented the Council with a comprehensive review of the Grant
being submitted.
- Council voted unanimously to support the Grant as prepared.
- Kevin will contact Rick Greene to set approval and the process for Herman to
receive the Grant for consideration and Approval.
3. Election of new Officers for the Council.
KJD completed his term as Chair of the Council, and will remain on the Council
for another 3 year term, but requested to be released from Chair responsibilities.
Andrew Firmin was elected by the Council to serve as Chair, Dan Moore will
serve as Vice-Chair and Kevin Driscoll will serve as Clerk.
The Term for Executive Officers is 2 years.
Next meeting: Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Sam
