HomeMy WebLinkAbout2022-03-22 NASC Minutes NASC Meeting 3/22/22 Attendees: Andy Mitchell, Bryan Sheckman, Adrienne Goldman, Jessica and Alvin Pimentel, Kanthi Sattiraju, Elizabeth Guilbeault, Joanna O'Connell. I. Discussed Annual Town Wide Clean Up A. Confirmed Date and Location at NAMS Sunday May 1, 9am-12pm. Time allotted one hour before and one hour after timeframe for setup/cleanup. B. Update on Vendors: Off beet Compost will be joining, offering discounts on signups and giving soil back to customers;Textile collection (possibility of Kevin bringing a trailer to help tote to our Baystate Textile bin on Holt Road; Revision Energy(Joanna); donuts (Boston Hill Farm); will be selling our Earth Machine composters on the day of the event. C. Update on Flyers—will be finished and ready to hand out at the beginning of April. D. Assigned tasks for April follow-up—Bryan dealing with Police department for signage pre-event and for rainbarrel promo advertising, as well as detail for that day;Alvin following up with John Lavin regarding DPW detail that day. Assigned people to send out flyer via email to Principals at schools, and some to print out and hang around town; sheep sheering/fall festival inquiry—Bryan. II. Revisit Single-Use Plastic Bag Ban/Restriction A. Discussed the groundwork that has already been laid and gauge interest in pursuing the initiative again—potential of some interested folks in town coming to our NASC meeting in May, after the cleanup, to discuss next steps. Will discuss the process/timing of bringing the issue to Town Meeting in 2023. III. Update on Green Schools Composting—NAHS has been composting since January 21, 2022. To date approximately 2.5K pounds of food and other organic matter has been diverted. Kitchen staff doing great with participation as well. IV. Internal/Administrative A. Tentative Dates for Upcoming 2022 meetings: changed to April 1211, potentially May 2411
