The Board members felt that an opinion should be requested from the Town Counsel and then call a special meeting to act upon the application. 2~ BEN OSGOOD Mr. O'Leary made a motion to DENY the request; seconded by Mr. Scott and voted unanimously. The reasons are: The applicant will suffer no hardship, financial or otherwise; there would be a traffic problem that would arise on the narrow Farnum Street and other streets in the area; and the inconvenience to and the safety of all residents in the neighborhood. 3. RALPH BEVIN: Mr. O'Leary made a motion to GRANT the variance; Mr. Leonard seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous. The applicant would suffer substantial hard- ship. Dr~ond) ( Anna Donahue) *********************** Monday - September 22, 1969 SPECIAL ~I/~ Chairman Clerk The BOARD OF APPEALS held a special meeting on Monday evening, September 22, 1969 at 7:30 P.M. in the Town Office Building with the following members present and voting: Arthur R. Drummond, Chairman; Daniel T. O'Leary, Secretary; Donald J. Scottt Donald J. Leonard and Assoct Member James A. Glynn, Esq. This meeting was called to vote on the petition of the First Methodist Church and others. An opinion had been received from Town Counsel as requested. Mr. Drummond read the letter and there was a lengthy discussion held. Mr. Scott made a motion to GRANT the variance; Mr. Glynn seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous; subject to certain restrictions. A. Due to the traffic and parking problems in that area, there is to be no renting of the hall for any functions of any description. B. The requested signs and canopy must comply with the requirements prescribed by the Building Inspector. The reasons for granting the variance are that the requirements as outlined by the Town Counsel have been met. The meeting adjourned at 8:OOP.M. (Arthur R. Drummond) (Anna Donaht~e) Chairman Clerk
