HomeMy WebLinkAbout1950-06-12June 12, 1950 Meeting was called to order by John F. Alter, Ohairmau at 8:10 P.M. in the Town Budlding. Members present: John F. Alter, Gregory Moc~a~kanian, Irving C. Howes, Henry ~. Lurid and associate member Santo DiMauro. Application was received from John F. Sawyer and Aurel LeBen request.trig a variance of the Zoning By-Laws so as to permit the erection and maintenance of a gas filling station and a milk b ar on the premises at Salem Turnpike and Hillside Road. A Public Hearing was held on this application on this date, having been advertised in the ~ening Tribune on the evening of June 3, 1950. Mr. Sawyer and Mr. LeBrun were both present ~t explained to the Board that they wished to erect and maintain a filling station m~d a milk b ar at this location. They stated thatthey had 5 acres of land and that there would be a sizeable distance between the two buildings and that all s et backs and side yard as we~l as back distances would be met. Mr. Brasseur was present and stated that in his opinion this was a very suitabl'e location for this type of business as there was ample space and that all requirements would be met. Mr. Lyman H. Kilton was present and wished to be recorded as objecting to the approval of this application because in his opinion_ there already were a filling station and a mtlk bar in a close by area and he felt that these would be too close together. He also stated that ~e thought that it was a very bad idea to tie up a gas station business and a food business .together. Motion was made and seconded and it was VOTED to take this matterunder advisement. Application was received from Eopert P. Miller requesting the approval of plans ~ permit the subdivision of peroprty located at ~O-~2 Saunders Street, in order that the parcels may be sold separately. This is an old layout and it is now desired to divide ownership into two lots, each ~ving its own ihdividual bounds. There was no objection to this application. Motion was ~ade and seconded and it was VOTED to take this matter under ad- visement. Discussion was held relative to application from John Sawyer and Aurel Le- Brun. Motion was made and seconded and it was VOTED to g rant the variance. Discussionw~s held relative to application of ~obert P. Miller. There was no objection to this application. Motion was made and ~ econded and it was VOT~ to grant this variance. Letter was ~eceived from member James T. Poor who submitted his resignation to the Board of Appeals robe effe~ctive June 10, 1950. Motion was made and seconded that Mr. PQor,s resignation be accepted by the board and that a £etter be sent to Mr. Poor thanking him for his services mo the board in ~he past. Motion was made and seconded and it was VOTED to adjourn the meeting at 10:15 P.M.
