Regular Meeting
The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Appeals .was held
on Monday, March 9, 1959 at the Town Building. Members present
and voting were: Daniel T. 0~Leary, Chairman, Donald F. Smith,
Henry E. Lund and Charles Foster, Associate Member. Mr. 0'Leery
designated Mr. Foster to sit in place of Kenneth Terroux, r~u~ar
member who was absent. The meeting was called to order at ~.05 PM.
1st hearing. The application o f Edward Keeler. Atty. Alfred L.
Daniels represented the petitioner who applied for a si~plan
review to allow the erection of a drive in restaurant on 0sgood
Street. It was pointed out light lunch~s only would be served.
D~ to the bad weather Mr. Keeler was held up and the he aringwas
recessed until 8:45 PM. Mr. Keeler presented photos of the pro-
posed building and explained the building would be low a nd parking
would be in front of the building and the entrance would be on
Osgood Street.
Mr. Smith explaine& more detailed plans were needed showing
parking, lighting, signs, contour of the land, catch bas~ns, land-
s caping, etc.
Mr. Smith moved the hearing be continued at the next monthly meeting
in April or until more detailed plans are received. Mr. Lurid
sec6nded the motion. Unanimous vote.
2nd hearing. The application of Bonnelll and Corradinc. Atty.
Vincent Curcio represented the petitioner who s ought a variance
on land at 1010 0sgood Street as the area contained only 48,~00 squar~
feet in an area requiring 50,000 square feet. Mm. Curcio pointed out
if the variance were granted, an application for a special permit for
the erection of a gasoline filling station would be filed. He also
etated the land cannot be used for anything else because of th~ lot
size and it is in an industrial area.
Atty. Harold Morley, Jr. represented Mr. and Mrs. William Chepulis,
abbutters. Mr. Moreley pointed out the land is in the path of the
airport and that the school bus picks up children in front of the
Chepulis home and cars going in and out of the service station would
make it very dangerous. The school busses make 12 daily trips in the
area. It was also pointed out a special permit for the erection of
a filling station has Just be granted to Massgan Realty Company and
anothe~ gasoline station, Lakeside, is already in the area. Lakeside
Filling Station is presently in Court with the Town. The Board of
Health is holding this up because the station is too near the water
supply. Mr. Morley said he feels the same holds true with Bonnelli
and Corradino's application.
Mr. Curcio pointed out when the Cheplulis Family purchased their
home it was already in an area zoned IndUstrial.
Norman Hughes, o~ner of Lakeside, spoke bringing out the fact
that the traffic is very heavy in this area and a gasoline
station would make it very dangerous.

M~. Smith moved to take the matter under adv~ement. Mr. Luad
seconded the motion. Umanimous vote.
Atty. Randazzo and Mr. Carmelo Marine once again appeared before
the Board as requested.
Mr. Randazzo pointed out the first home was built on th~ foundation
already started when Mr. Marine purchased the land. The deed was
also brought ~n for the Board's inspection.
Mr. Smith stated in December 1958 M~. Marine sub-divided the property
without first going to the Planning Board.
Mr. RandazZo agreed Mr. Marine was wrong and asked what could be
done. Mr. Smith stated the Board cannot say what can be done but
can only give a decision on the application submitted to the Board.
Mr. Smith also mentioned he felt Mr. ~arino should go before the
Plaguing Board for approval on the sub-division of the property.
A bill for $18.60 for signed for Mary Doherty.
It was decided a special meeting would be held on Monday March 23
to discuss these mattere further.
The meeting adjourned at 9:15 PM.
