The Board also questioned Toby Keiser of'Mass. Electric concerning the pole in a hazardous location at Gr. Pond Rd./Marbleridge Rd. Mr. Keiser reported that the~ are awaiting the homeowner's action to move their electrical service. The Board requested the Town Manager investigate what it would take to have this poie moved as soon as possible and resolve the matter. Request to Use Public Pro err .' Do Fair Marie Gilchrist of Riverview Pet Grooming provided an updated list of activities planned Dog Fair on October 1 at the Old Common. The Selectmen stressed that they did not wish to be perceived as a single commercial venture. Motion by Crouch, seconded by Smith, voted unanumously to grant approval to use the common, subject to apporval of the of plan by the Town Manager. Traffic Issues %he Board discussed several traffic issu*es including a request for a stop sign at Forest St./ Salem St.; speed zone of 25 mph along Winter-.St.. between Dale St./S. Bradford St.; a yeild sign on Essex St. at the intersection'with Gr. Pond Rd.; a blind driveway sign near 1193 Gr. Pond Rd.; reduction in the speed limit on a portion of Salem St. between Abbott St. and 971 SE. to 35 mph. The Board voted as follows: to petition MDPW to study entire length of Salem St. Winter St., South Bradford St. and Dale St. and make a-'recommendation; to place a yeild sign at Essex St. and Gr. Pond Rd.; to place a blind driveway sign at 1193 Gr. Pond Rd.; to place a stop sign on Foster St. at Salem St. Street Li htin Re uests The Board approved the placement of street lights at the following locations: and 31 Bradford St. 234 Bradford St. A_p3roval of Meeting Schedule The Board approved a meeting schedule through the New Year's holiday which considers every week, excluding December 27th. ,/ ~atherine J. Hicks, Adm. ***t******************--*** S_~temb~r 6, 1988 The Board..held a regular meeting on this date with all members present: Chairman Charles A. Salisbury, Christine M. Smith, Kenneth C. Crouch, Robert Ercolini, Francis X. Dugan; Town Manager Paul D. Sharon. Molly Sullfvan~ Bill Hart briefed the Board on activities planned for Sat. Sept. 10th from 10 am to 2 pm, including stringing a banner across Main St., hanging state, federal and olympic flags, and a WCCM broadcast fromM aim St. Chief Sta~al Police Officers Chief Richard Stanley briefed the Board on his recommendation for individuals who should be designated as Special Police Officers and Special Traffic Constables. Basically, he said, only those appropriately trained and schooled should be permitted to carry firearms and represent the Town. Those employees of Ogden Security and First Security should be designated as Special Traffic Constables. The Board requested that letters be sent to those who were mot r~appointed, as well as those who were, and that the Chief determine that the Town is named as an additional insured on~0gderd'First Security liability insuranc~.~ · ~_~usst f~ The Board approved the request of Dot Currier to close off a portion of Milton St. for their' annual block party on September llth. nest for Common Victualer License: Joe's VarletZ The Board approved the request of Naaman Naamani, owner of Joe's Variety at the intersection of 'Waverly Rd. and Middlesex St. for a common victualer license to serve cold dell sandwiches Monday through Saturday. Motion by Crouch, seconded by Ercolint to grant, voted unanimously. The Board also requested the Board of Health be notified to advise applicants that a common victualer license is also necessary. Request to Use Public Pro_Pro_~ The Board unanimously approved the request of Milltcent Plant to use the Town Farm for a bike race, and approved the request of Rev.
