HomeMy WebLinkAbout1988-10-24 Board of Selectmen MinutesOctober 24, 1988 cont'd ~ ~ Appointment: Task Force on Tourism The Board voted unanimously to appoint Andover resident Tans Hahn, who is employed by the American Textile Museum as the representative to the Merrimack Valley Task Force on Tourism. Freva~ Selectmen Ercolini raised the issue once again, of taking a position on ballor/~usstion #. Not seconded and voted. ~ /~ /' Catherine J. Hicks, Adm. ***************************__**** October 27, 1988 The Board held a special meeting on this date with all members present: Chairman Charles A. Salisbury, Kenneth C. Crouch, Christine M. Smith, Robert E~colini, Francis Dugan; Town Manager Paul D. Sharon. The purpose of this meeting was to continue holding interviews for the position of Town Accountant. Interviews on this date were held with applicant George O"Brien and 'Viola Ferretti. Karen A. Robertson, Acting Sec'y.*********************z~,~J~ October 31, 1988 The Board held a regular meeting on this date with four members present: Kenneth C. Crouch Christine M. Smith, Robert Ercolinf, Francis X. Dugan; Town Manager Paul Sharon. The minute~ of October 24 were unanimously approved. Interviews: Local Arts Council The Board held interviews with Elizabeth Jacohson and Abbe Stephenson. Pat Trombly, present member of the Council, stated :ha: presently there are 5 members, according to State Statute they are allowed to have $ - 22 members. She would like to see the membership at 7-9. Mo:ion by Dugan, seconded by Ercolini to accept both applicants and to appoint'them as ...... . ...... members. Interview: Recreation Council The Boardheld interviews with present incumbents William McEvoy and Richard Sharer. Selectmen Dugan stated that he received a call from Louis Detora stating h~'was interested in reappointment. Upon a motion by Dugan, seconded by Smith, the Board unanimously voted to reappoint William McEvoy and Richard Shafer to the Recreation Council for a term of three years. Also, to reappoint Louis Decors for a term of three years subject to a wrtttenl letter of interest. Community Service Selectmen Crouch broughtup the possibility of working with the sheriff's department to have prisoners, under supervision, do some -community service work for the Town. Selectmen Dugan and Town Manager Paul Sharon are going :o pursue this. LICENSING COMMISSIONERS: Request for Transient Vendors License The Eoard unanimosly approved the request of I. Fred Koffman for a Transient Vendprs License to auction oriental rugs at the V.F.W., Lodge #2104, Park St. ob Nov. 6 from 1 '~.m. to November 7, 1988 The Board held a regular meeting on this date with four members present: Chairman Charles A. Salisbury, Kenneth C. Crouch, Francis X. Dugan, Robert Ercolfni; Town Manager Paul Sharon. The minutes of October 27 and October 31 were unanimously approved. Appointments to Handicapped Commission Town Manager Paul Sharon submitted a list to the Board of individuals he recommended for appointment. The Board had some reservations on some of the candidates and postponed the appointments for the next Board's meeting.
