HomeMy WebLinkAbout1978-11-06 Board of Selectmen Minutes 30, 1978 (continu ) 71 BARDSLEY TAXI CAB: A hearing was held on this date, at 8:15 P.M., to question Edward Bardsley about his cab service or lack of it. Bardsley stated that he no longer was located at Nain Street where is license is granted that the electric company had removed the transmitter from the pole. He stated that he .was operating his cab business from his home. The Selectmen stated that they had received several calls that townspeople could not get a cab, that there was not a nttmber to call for a cab that, if effect, Bardsley was not providing any tazf service. After a discussion of the matter, the Selectmen voted to suspend the taxi cab license,issued to Bardsley, indefinitely and, that before the License Commission will even consider lifting suspension, Bardsley must deliver to this office a copy of his logs of calls, insurance certificates and registration of his vehicles. He was requested to return the license to the Selectmen's office no later than November 9, 1978. Letter to be sent cer~ifisd.mail. NOVEMBER 6, 1~78. Brian to set up meeting with To~m Counsel, To~en Clerk, Boa~d of Registrars ~ Precinct ~{ardens. INGLBo[00D STP~T: Letter received from Atty. Concemi re Fichere v. Napoli..problem on Znglexmod Street. Board voted to have a fnl:! status report from the ~ding Inspector. ASST. INSPECTOR OF BU~DINGS: C. Foster submitted a job description for an Assistant to the Inspector of ~ildings. It was ~ithdrawn until it %~s determined whether the position comes ~Ser Civil Service or not. Board will ask Town Counsel for answer to ~ding Inspector's inquiry re Civil Service.. MVPC-SM~LL CITIES PROGR~.i: Letter from ~PC re application for 1978 Cormmmity Development ~m~ Cities Program. Board voted not to submit application...to have ~,~lding Inspector give evaluation of program. Could be submitted at annns.l To~*n ~eting. Letter received on proposed Airport Traffic Control Tower at Lawrence Nunicipal Airport. NARBLEHEAD STP~'~' R.R. CROSSING: Letter from R. T. Tierney, P.E., State Dept. of Public Works, stated that the average daily traffic over the above-nsmmd crossing was too low to warrant'a rubber crossing. However, when funding aJ_locations permit the scheduling of the crossing reconstruction, the Dept. of Public Works wi1 ~ request Boston & Naine §orporation to submit an estimate to include com- plet reconstruction of the track, s~rface and protection to conform to State and Federal Rai~$High~my Specifictions. TO~EOS: Letter f-~ Chief Lawlor stated that he recoz~nended the elimination of proposed traffic at Park St. and Chickering Rd. He also recommended that traffic travel, in both directions on Park Street and Pleasant Street. J. D'Angelo stated that Selectmen should submit plans to be approved by the Public Works .... that side~ealks.~ main project, would be placed on priority. Board voted to accept negotiated proposal by the State. for the purpose of hel~ing a hearing. I~ER~CAR DANAGE CI~IM: Board voted to award the amount of $50.00 to ~er's Car Damage Claim. A General Release form wi]_l be sent to him and payment will be processed as soon as received. DR. BULGER: The Board noted ~rith deep sadness the untimely passing of Dr .Edward C. Bu!ger, Animal In- spector for many years. Board voted to send flowera and a letter of s2mpathy to ~h~. Blulger. Complaints received of the open air drinl~ng, scattering of beer cans and people playing with frizbees on the Common. Letter voted to be sent to police department to enforce public ing law and other activities at the Common. RECEIVED: Letter from G.L.C.C. re Question I...to vote no..
