HomeMy WebLinkAbout1979-10-15 Board of Selectmen MinutesOCTOBER 1 79 137 The Board of Selectmen held their regular meeting on this date with all members present. The warrant was approved as submitted. PRESENTATION: The~Sel~otmen were presented, and accepted, a plaque from the North Andover Historic Co~nission. The plaque commemorates the acceptance by the State of a ~rth Andover Center Historic District, old homes which are now registered in the National Register of Historic Places. COMMUNITY'CENTER: Emily Murphy appeared before the Board to say a Mainten~ce man could be used at the Cdmmunicy Center. The roof leaks, the place needs a thorough clean- ing, they need a ~loset built and a stage is needed. The Board was told by the Chairman of the 65 plus club thaC members would build the stage. After further discussion it was voted unanimously to allocate fund to have Center cleaned and usable. CABLETV: Letter from Arthur Murphy advised the Board that the Cable TV Commission had corrected their work and chat his TV reception is good. BUD CYP,-TO~ YARD: Bud Cyr:reported to the Board that vandalism is getting progressively worse behind'-the Town Building Garage. Yo~lbOyS are breaking glass every night · and other things. He is afraid theystarc a fire aome night, lC was suggeste that,:the police and fire chiefs be notified..to 'ask Chief Currier to have his men-watch out for the boys and chat the old Highway 0fficeshould be boarded up sothe'boys will keep out of it. It was voted to. get figures on cost to tear'~the buildings down. GRAVES REGISTRATION OFFICER: William Emmett appeared before the Board,asking their approval of a request from Reserve Fund to replace grave markers needed that were stolen. He stated~thac the markers are now being made out of aluminum and would not be stolen-like the old ones. Flags would also have to be purchased. The Board voted unanimously Co have the Chairman and EmmeCt attend the Advisory Board meeting with the request. STATE AID-CHAPTER 9.~: Letter received from the State Office of Transportation & Construction ex- . plaining-the distribution of Chapter 90 funds for the fiscal year 1980. The Board. also si~ned the Memorandum of Agreement (in duplicate) for the improvement of read.~iin North Andover under Chapter 90. Bud CyrsrequesCed authorization to submit an Article in the warrant of the Special Town Meet. lng to expend the entire appropriation voted at 1979 Town MeettnE ($4~,739.00) for Chapter 90 funds. Due to State error, only $34,710.00 will be reimbursed by the State. It was so voted. LAND USESTUDY COMMITTEE: Appointment of the above-named committee was tabled until October 29, 1979.
