NOVEMBER 1~ 1979 The'~Boar~'~of Selectmen held their regular meeting on this date because of the Veterahs' Day Holiday, Monday. Present were Selectmen Gukhrte, Salisbury, Graham With Chairman McEvoy presiding. Selectman Joyce absent because of a pr6~!ous commfttment. The warrant and minutes were approved as submitted. STREET. LIGHTiNG: A Mr. :~iiP~Owski appeared before the Board on behalf of his mother to object to the'installation of a floodlight on Wayne Street...purpose of light to prevent further vandalism at the Town Garage. Slipkowski claime~ the light would only aid the town truck drivers when they were loading at the salt shed, · that the teenagers Would just move tO an unlighted area. He suggested that a chain link fencebe installed to discouazge trespassere. Bill Bolan, who recommendedthe floodlight be installed, was asked by Select~a~ GUthrie if he had obtained a list of vandalism dates at the Town. Garage. Bolan stated he ~hadn't and Guthrie that it would be helpful in the future if a written report of vandalism and activit~ tnthe area be submitted on future requests. Sele6~man Salisbury motioned that therequest be rej'eetdeuntil Slipkowski and the High, ay Surveyor dis'cussed the light in question. Unanimous Vote. LAND~aking TRIAL: . Let~&r received from Tow~a Counsel advised the Board that a request had been made through him for authority to enrage an appraiser, Mr. Flynn, in prepara- tion for the land.damage trials. Fee would be in the area of $750. plus $250. per ds~ i~"~ourt. It was voted to authorize the Chairman to contact Town dOunsel to determine what Mr. Flynn will do for this fee. BAND UNIFORMS: Letter received from Peter Garofoli requesting permission to sell the old, u nif°rms. POLICE OPEN'HOUSE: ~ Letter received from Chief Donnelly advising, the Board that he planned on havin an Open House, Saturday, November 24th, and invitations will go out to the merchants who contributed to all the new alterations in the police station. A light lunch will be served and he asked permission to serve a few bottles of "cheer." It~was voted to advise Chief Donnel~y that they endorsed the action of Chief Donnelly re the Open House and lightlunch but the Board deemed it inappropriate to serve cocktails at the police station and to serve coffee tn- EXECUTIVE SESSION: Board went into executive session from 8 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Chairman McEvoy reportedthat on the $rievance of Richard Fenton, they agreed that he should have been paid for the Pope's Holiday as he had reported for work in good faith and was sent home
