TOm ' cOuNsEL APPOINTMENT: At /:00 P.M., six members of the desi~nated co-~ittee assembled to appoint a Town Counsel. for one;year. One member, Dr. Kay, sent a written vote. It was voted'to nave the chairman cast one ballot.for the incumbent Counsel, John J. Willis,.and %he vote'was unanimous. Town Counsel Willis was the only app fbr the position. PUBLIC WORKS APPOINTMENT: The Board of Selectmen and~the Board of Public Works assembled to appoint a member to the Board o'f Public Works, a vacancycaused by. the resi~nation of George S~nford'. Eight applicants applied, one, Richard Haltmaier withdrew, verbally,'to the Chair~an. On Cae second ballot, James Noble, Engineer at Western Electric, was appOinted. Nancy Houghton, 142 Berry St. and Jack Leavitt, §/ Pleasant St. were drawn for Jury duty, August ~, a~ Lawrence. William Salemne, 35 Putnam Rd., was drawn for Jury duty, August 4, at Salem. Members of the co~nnittee present..Mike Schena, Fitz[ Lightburn and Osgood... stated that the study was completed'and that.the step would beto draw up a plan of implementation. Mike Schena stated that fo!lowing'shephdshould be taken: 1}' Dept~ heads to list probleme for clarifica~ion.' 2) Ittghts of the committee should be clarified. 3) . To get more imput f~n the departments.,..comm~ttee members hhould attend theirmeet£ngs. How can the committee proceed when .the positions of Town Planner and Water. shed ~nspector are already established? ... Dothe Selectmen want the-'committe to continue with the implementation? Are we going to the next Town Meeting and be knocked out with a technical: The selectmen told the committee that Town Meeting had authorized the same con~nittee to come back with a report. The following two votes were unanimous: 1)The Selectmen endorse the aame cou~nittee to submit a plan of i~plementation the next Town Meeting. 2) Selectmen to call for additional candidates to ':'on comittee. MASS. AVENUE: BuckinghamRd.: Letters received from the Police and Fire Chief gave their approval to close off Hass. Ave. for the 4th of July observances. Letter from Abbott Galaher expressed concern'about traffic on M~lk St. Letter referred to Police Chief. T?J~FIC LIGHT'- PETE~S & RT. 125: Selectman DiFrusc~o expressed his concern about the traffic lights',not working at the above-named intersection, a very dan erous'i and parts were no= always available when Somet~ing went wrong w~th them. 'STP~EET LIGHT T~ANSFE~: The Selectmen apprbved sending .a request for funds from the reserver f~n~ to pay June's street l~ght bill.
