HAZARDOUS ~ASTE:
Letter received from the DEQE re the new hazardous waste management pro]ram.
Discussion on same will be continued at the next meetin~.re~ardtn~ their
request for a coordinator.
INVITATION:
Recreation Council invited a member of the Board to attend a thank-you
party for the sponsors, of the summer pro,ram. Selectman DiFruscio~will
attend.
WAVERLY ROAD SPEEDING:
Letter from Chief Donnelly replied to the Waverly Road complaint on
speeding. He stated that the su%~ested "speed bumps" were not allowed on
publ{c highways. He recommended that the Board advise the residents to
write to the Hi;hway Surveyor regarding the Xnstallation of curbin].
PROVISIONAL LIEUTENANT:
Letter received from Chief Donnelly recommending that Police Sergeant
Edward T. Sullivan, Jr. be appointed a Provisional Lieutenant as he'~had
been performing these duties for some time. It was an unanimous vote
of the Board to appoint Officer Sullivan, a Provisional Lieutenant, date
of employment to ~egin September 22, 1980.

Letter from Chief Donnelly stated that, under the existing circumstances,
a stop sign at the intersections of Main & Water Streets and Waverly Road
and Main Streets, would have no effect. It was voted to write to the DPW
requesting they make a study as to how traffic can be controlled at these
.points. Chief recommended that stop signs should be installed on Stevens
Street, intersection of Stevens St. and Great Pond Road..also, a stop sign
at the intersection of Johnson St. ~nd Milk Street. It was so voted; a
letter will be sent to the Di~. for their approval of same.
DISCRIMINATION COMPLAINT:
Research by Brian S. revealed that there is no basis for th~s unsigned
complaint and Mr. R~dgely of the Revenue Sharing Office has yet to reply
to Brian's request for further clarification and justification of the
complaint. Board voted to have letter sent to the government stating there
has been absolutely no discrimination against minorities or anyone else and
they a~e to come and examine the records of the ~Town at any time.
KIWANIS CLUB:
L~ter from Kiwanis Club advising Selectmen Of a "Junion Olympics" event
to be held at the Lawrence Boys Club, September 27th, 'from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Selectman Graham stated that he would attend to help out in the award
presentations.
' SELECTMEN'S GOALS:
It was'brought up that the Board should meet't~ discuss their goals. Ch~ir~am
McEv°y objected..said the only ~oal he is interested in is bein~ a good Se-
lectman. Meeting was set for Tuesday, Sept. 30th.
PLACQUES:
Selectman DiFruscio would like to set up a procedure of the Board that, when
an employee of lon~ employment to the To~.m retires, a plaque should be pre-
sented to him or her. Other members of the Board a~]reed but brought up the
fact that each department took care of its own employees, school .included.
After a discussion, the matter was tabled until next meetin%.
