HomeMy WebLinkAbout1961-01-03 Board of Selectmen MinutesJanuary 3, 1961 The Selectme~ met on this date at 5:30 p.m. for a brief meeting, with g~o members present and Chairman Finck presiding. Clerk of the Board, Philip 8utcliffe, took the minutes of the meeting. Member Finneran was unable to attend. HEARING: Joint Pole Petition Upon motion of Mr. Sutcliffe, seconded by Cha~L~man L:Finck,, and vote~ unanimously, the petition of the Merrimack-Essex. Electric Company and the New England Telephone and Telegraph Co. for a Joint pole location at Farnum Street, from approximately 650 feet southeast of Summer Street, southeasterly, h poles, was approved. HEARING: Pole and Wire Locations Upon motion of ~r. ~7. i nc~,: seconded by Er..Sutcliffe, and voted unanimously, the petition for pole and wire locations of .the Merrimack-Essex 'Electric Company at the following location was approved: On the easterly 'side of Boston Street, at s point approximately 18 ~eet northerly from ~,~ltvan Road, 1 pole. (1 ex- isting location to be abandoned. ) MERRIEACK-ESSEX ELECTRIC CC~PAN¥: Relative to an in~xiry of this Board to Merrimack-Essex Electric Company, a reply was received from the latter regarding to the operation of street lights in North Andover since the snow storm o~f December 12, 1960. Letter was placed on file. PRINTING OF TC~N REPORT: .~ Mr. Patrick A. Bissomnette of the Town Printing Company appeared to discuss his low bid of $5.20 per page as against .$5.30 bid of SpauldingeMoss Comgany and left material to be perased by the Board and Er. Finneran ~ho was absent. The matter was taken under advisement. DEPT.OF PUbLiC WORKS: A letter was received from the Mass. Dept. of Publi~ Works requesting an extension of time on the Chapter 90 contract for E.V. DelDuca Construction Co. until May 31, '1961, in order for the se~ding to take place in the Spring. CLASS ~ SECOND RAND CAR DEALER'S LICENSE: Application for renewal of Class II Second Hand Car Dealer's License for Ed~ard G. Saul, Turnpike Motor Sales, 'was approved. LIC~SE TO PEDDLE: Application for renewal and approval of a License to Peddle was submitted tn the Board by Stanley B. T~mbly, Bakery Goods salesman. Said application was approved and signed. CIVIL 8ER~CE: Welfare Compensation T~o letters were received from Civil Service since the last meeting--one to notify this Board about a public hearing to be ~held on December 28, 19~0, and the other the ~results of said meeting, regarding compensation of Welfare Dapartment~.em- ployses. New ~age scales were included with the letter and same were placed on ~flle. Meeting adjourned at 5:50 p.m. January 9, 1961 The .regular. meeting of the Board o'f Selectmen was held ~ith all members present s~d Chairman Finck presiding. HEARING: A hearing was held on the application of Western Electric Co., Inc. for license to store, underground, 3,000 gallons of miscellaneous waste flammables. Said application was approved by Chief Daw of the Fire Department. Upon motion of Mr. Sutcltffe, seconded by Mr. Ftnneran, said application was granted unanimou~2y.
