CO'~'u-T STREET:
Mr. Finneran stated that he had received a complaint from a Mr. Shea of gotuit
Street about conditions resulting from a runoff of water into the intersection oft
Waverly Road and Turnpike Street. Chairman Finck advised the Board to find out
the status of the street and to write to Town Counsel for information. · Motion to
that effect was made by Mr. Sutcliffe, seconded by Mr. Finneran, and vOted unan-
imously.
JOINT POLE LOCATIC~:
A Joint Pole Location petition was received from New England Telephone and Tele-
graph Company and Merrimack-Essex Electric Company for Boston Road, from approxi-
mately 3028 feet southeast of Gray Street, 1 pole. Mr. Fiunersn motioned that a
hearing be set for 7:30.p~.m., March 13, 1961, seconded by Mr. Sutcliffe, and
voted unanimously.
ST~ ~2.T LIGHTING SUR¥~.x:
The matter of the proposed improved street lighting in the vicinity of the library
was brought up again. Letters were received from the Board of Trustees of~ the
library and Police Chief Lawlor who were in agreement with the recommendations of
the Merrimack-Essex Electric Company. Mr. Sutcliffe motioned that the street~
lighting survey be approved, seconded by Mr. Finneran, and vOted unanimously.
ADVZSO~ BOARD HEARINGS:
Notice of Advisory Board public heurings was received from R. Ashton Smith, Chair-
mm~. Said hearings will be held on March 1 and March 15, 1961.
Notice of a public hearing of the Board of Appeals to be held March 13th was re-
ceived.
POS. TAGE STAMP - Samuel ~Osgood:
Congressman Thomas J. Lane sent the Board a copy of a letter he had sent to the
Postmaster General in Washington, D. C. with a request that the Stamp Advisory.
Committee issue a stamp in the future in honor of Samuel Osgood, the first
Postmaster General. Mr. Finneran motioned that a letter with. similar content
be sent to the Postmaster General, seconded by Mr. Sutcliffe, and vOted
unanimously.
SN~ P~NOVAL EMERG~NC~:
A letter was received from Ira Carry, Highway Surveyor, regarding the Snow
Removal ~ergency which was declared at 8:30 a.m., February 4, 1961, total cost
of which amounted to $11,980.7~. Mr. Fiuneran motioned that it be referred to
Director of Accounts Merman Dine for approval, seconded by Mr. Sutcliffe, and
voted unanimously.
MASS. FEDERATION OF TAXPAI~RS ASSO.: - -
A co~.,,-.~nication was received from the above-mentioned association regarding House
· Bill 1564 regarding opposit~ou to State-Wide Parking Monopoly. Mr. Sutcliffe
motioned that the legislature be notified of our opposition to said bill, that it
is an invasion of home rule df cities and towns.
DEPT. OF PUBLIC WO~XS:
Chairman Finck stated that Town Counsel has written to the State regarding their
standing in the situatio~ of the ~6y:cOn~itlon.:_extStfng:recently at the corner of
Osgood: and Sutton Streets.
Upon motion of Mr. Ftnneran, seconded by Mr. Sutcliffe, the meeting adjourned
at 8:00 p.m.
