MERrIMACK-ESSEX ELECTP~C COMPANY:
A report of a street lighting survey along Massachusetts Avenue between Chickering
Road and Oegood Street was received by the Beard, at an additional yearly cost of
$374.00 per year. Mr. Finck motioned it be tabIed for one week'and requested a
letter be sent to Merrimack-Essex Electric Company asking for a representative to
meet with the Board to discuss the feasibility of their proposal. Mr. Sutcliffe
seconded the motion, and it was vo~ed unanimously.
POLE AND WIRE LOCATION PETITIONS:'
Four petitions were received fx~m Merrimack-Essex Electric Company for pole and wire
locations for 0sgond Street. Mr. Sutcliffe motioned hearings be held at 7:30 p.m.
June 30, 1961, seconded by Mr. Finck, and voted unanimously. ~ ~ '
IAWR~NCE GAS COMPANY:
T~o gas excavation petitions were once again brought before the Board--one for
Patriot Street and one for Sargent Street. They had not been signed by Mr. Carry
as he had stipulated he ~ul~ not sign then until Bay State Road was put back in
proper condition. The gas company had complied with his request and he had signed
said petitions. Upon motion of Mr. Finck, secou~ed by Mr. Sutcliffe, -it was v~ted
unanimously to approve said excavation petitions.
MASS. AVEN~E DEAINAGE:
Mr. Walter Stamp, Highway Department foreman, appeared before the Board to inquire
as to whether or ndt permission had bean granted ~o the Mass. Department of Public
Works to enter the 30-inch drain at Mass. Avenue and ~.inden Avenue. The secretary.

JULY 4~ C~TTEE:
An invitation was received by the selectmen from the July 4th committee regarding
their participation in the Fourth of July parade. ~It was votadunanimously to take
part in said parade.
CITIL S~TiOE:
A letter was received from the Division of~ Civil Service requesting this Roard to. -
have all departments with Civil Service emplcyees complay with a r. egulatiou' whereby
a list of all said employees mast be sent in to Civil Service. ;Dep~artments who have
not as yet complie~ to date are Tree Department and Highway Department,;.' %Letters will
be sant to'both as a reminder. -~ ,. ,~
