Heeringe:~ 1. License for relocation of store was granted unanimously for the North Andover Package ?Store, Francis ~.orden, President end Treasurer; effective when building was erected. 2.-Merrimack-Essex Electric Co. and New En~lend Tel. & Tel. Co. were granted permission to relocate Joint poles on Farnum Street. Arnold Salisbury, Town Counsel: Request was voted to be sent ~o Town Counsel, Salisbury, for a Progress Report on School Land Taking iniated on January 18, 1961~. Complaint: Re: Den Rock customer noise, and disturbances. ~. George Perron, James Matheson and John Martin, residents in the vicinity of Den Rock Restaurant registered the following complaints: !. Excessive Noise. 2. Unsafe driving by reckless teen-age drivers of so-called Hot Rod cars. 3. Continuous parking and turning around of cars in driveways on private property. 4. Excessive d~mping of trash on end close by abutter's property. The Board voted to make Waverly Road from Turnpike St. to the Andover line on the easter- lyand westerly sides a '~o Parking" area. A letter was sent to Director of Public of Lawrence, Mr. Vincent Fole~for police enforcement as restaurant Ts in Lawrence. REQUESTS: Chief Police Lawlor asked for '~oParking,, signs to be installed from Turnpike P~ to Andover line on the easterly and westerly side of Waverly Road. Mr. end Mrs. Gtard requested a street sign be placed on their street, Nacon St. They were put on,the list for next year and a wooden street sign was voted to be installed temporarily.. The matter was referred to Mr. Sutcliffe. Application: Attorney Daniels appeared for Massgan Co. and applied for a hearing for per- mission to store fuel oil. Hc~ring was set for 8:00 P.M. on October 23, 1961. Fire Chief Daw was referred to for a report. Jurors: Two jurors were chosen by Mr. Philip Sutcliffe and Mr. Rslph Finck, Selectmen. Herbert J. Toomey, 43 Brightwood Ay?., to Superior ~Civil)-Court, Lawrence, Nov~ John F. Shola, 36 May St., to Superzor(Civil) Court, Salem, on Nov. 6, 1961. Lawrence Gas Company: Permission was granted for excavation of 15~ on Main Street and 440 feet on First Street, to install gas main and gas service for the Stop and Shop Plaza. Questionaire: Received from State Chapter 90. Referred to town clerk end highway dept. Mass. Dept. of Public Works: Contract on Dale Street work approved end signed by three Selectmen. New England Traffic Safety Lines Co: It was voted unanimously ' by the Board to accept the bid for painting and sweeping of Town Building yard that it may be made available for safe and practical parking of Town Building employees. Numbers and stickers will be issued by Chief Lawlor and each will have own numbered parking space. New Englund Traffic Safety Lines Co. will do the necessary work required. Application: Notification and application of authorities was received pertaining to the erection of a new parochial high school, The August~ienHigh School, in R$~ding, Mass. The pet- ition was signed and approved by the Board. Resignation: The resignation of Dewey A. Dyer from the Fire Station Commission was accepted by the Board. H is Civil Defense position was given as the reason forhaving no time available for the Commission. 158 rnvltation: ~ An invitation was received by the Board of Selectmen from the Elderly Housing to attend ~'~ a Saturday Night supper on October 21, 1961. Ail three Selectmen accepted with thanks. Letters Received: .... From Mr. Stan'Ie7©. Evans, Dale Street, a letter of co~nandation and appreciation for the service and courtesy rendered him by the three Selectmen. From Mr. McWillimms, District Highway Engineer re Hughes complaint a copy of which was' sent to Mr. Hughes. From Attorney Edward Pious, New York, a request for the names of cemeteries in town. · ~ Dept. of P~blic ~orks, a retail price index; anno~cement of public hearing .of Chapter 90 work, Wednesday, October llth, William A. Finneran, Chairman planned to attend. Airport Commission: The Board voted unanimously to sand another letter, the third, to request immediate action ~i~ regard to replac.~g and repairing guard rail knocked down on Holt Road. ~ They had agreed a meeting in mid August to replace it end have not done so as yet. Merrimack-Essex ~Company: Survey was requested by the Board for street lighting at the following streets:' 1. Waverly Road in the vicinity of the 'Ben Restaurant" 2. Corner of '~ed" Lane and Massachusetts Avenue 3. In the vicinity of Joe's Diner, Osgood Street. 4. In the vicinity of Mr. Daniel 01enio, 52 Clark Street. The meeting, was adjourned at 8:45 P. M. Hearings: Conservation Committee Conference with William Chapulis 'and Oscar L. ROOt of the Town's Conservation Committee about 3.68 acres of land on 0sgood St. near the intersection of Great Pond Road. This land would be valmable land for the town to acquire, ~. Root said, because of the benefit of protecting the watershed of Lake Cochichewick. Mr. Finck said that the land in question was in litigation and asked Mr. Root to ask Town Counsel if it would be possible to neg- ogfate for the land at this time. .~ Street Sign: Request of Mrs. John M. Knowles of South Bradford Street for a street sign ?s placed on next year's list. Auction: Permission was granted for a one day license for an sutton to be held at the fair' of the North Andover Grange on October 26, 1961. Director of Public S~fety, Vincent Foley: Letter rccetved assuring the~Selectmen that full cooperation of the city in. an effort to to end teenage loitering in the Waverly Road-Turnpike area in the vicinity of the "Den Restaurant~' Chief Lawlor was asked to make a progress report at the nemt meeting. Town Counsel: Arnold Salisbury was requested to make progress report on School Land takings as soon as he
