Office of the County Engineer: Re: Marblehead Street R.R. C~ossing. Petiton was signed by the three Selectmen for public way at Marblehead St. R. R. Crossing Lawrence Gas Light Co: Motion was made by Mr. Sutcliffe, seconded by Mr. Finck and made unanimous by ~hairman Finck that.excavations could be made on Baldwin Street. Merrimack-Essex Electric Co: Letter stating a street light had been installed on Gray Street, North Andover. Petition from New ~gland Tel. & Tel. Joint pole installation, no hearing necessary was approved unanimously. (Great Pond Rd. ) Petition for Joint pole installation on Campbell Rd., hearing necessary, and will be voted on at a hearing on October 30th. Mass. Dept. of Public Works: Re: Traffic Lights outside Shopping Center. Letter stated more traff£c~.lights may be required. However, the Durso Realty Co. hsd been given permission to install a traffic light signal with siren on their private property opposite the Fire Station at the exit of the Shopping Plaza. The signal and siren wo~ld be controlled by the Fire Department. Mr. Durso would pay for the whole installation. Town Counsel was requested to investigate the matter and find out if the Town would be liable for any accident that might occur. Co~nendation: Fireman Henry Martin and Ernest Summers were highly commended by the Selectmen after rec~ved a letter of appreciation and thanks from Mr. James W. Thomson, 45 Sawyer ROad, who stated their prompt action saved his life during a heart attack.' United States Senate: The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 P.M. An invitation was extended to the three Selectman to attend an emergency and defense · meeting to be held at the John Hancock Life Insurance Co~oany hall in Boston on Thursdayj November 9, 1961..
