The regular meeting of the Board of Selectman was held on this date at 7:30 p.m. ~th all members present, Chairman Finneran presiding: JUROR DRAWN: SUPERIOR ( CRIMINAL COURT ) Mr. Vincent Costello, 17 Maple Avenue , a clerk for Western~,Electric Co. was drawn for Jury duty on April 2, 1962, in Superior Crimininal Court, Salem, Mass. HOUSE MOVING: Mr. Maurice Hennessy - 69 Massachusetts Ave. Granted to the above named, permission to move .his home from 69 Mass. Ave. to Elmwood Street.. Reports from Merrimack-Essex Electric Co., Building Inspector Foster and Tree Warden Lafond were favorable. COMPLAINTS: Re LAWRENCE TO~N DUMP Received from three residents of Riverview Street, complaints about excessive black soot and offansive odors emenating from nearby Lawrence Dump. The Board voted to advise Alderman Guill- mette, Director of Health in Lawrence, of the nuisance and asked that corrective measures be taken at once to alleviate the problem. APPLICATION FOR SPECIAL TG~N MEETING: 'Made by Mr: Norman Scott, 51 Adams Ave. to pass on an Article that was turned down by the Annual Town meeting. The petition was for sewerage installation 'extending from Massachusetts Avenue to ~ Wood Lan~. The petition was tabled until article and required two hundred signatures were cert- ified by the town clerk. ' - NO PARKING BAN: Because of the excessive muddy conditions of driveways, the No-Perking Ban on streets after 11:00 p.m. during the winter was lifted om March 20, 1962 instead of April 2, 1962. Mr. Chapman was requested to meet with the Selec~m~ on March 26th to discuss this proposed lighting. INV/TATION: Mass. Chiefs of Police Association issued am invitation to attend the graduation exercises of ~arious patrolmen, one being from North Andover, Frencis Nannsy. BOY SCOUTS: A Plague was presented to the Selectmen in appreciation for the to~m's continued interest in the activities and welfare of their Boy Scouts. LAWRENCE GAS LIGHT COMPANY: . ~ A petition was received to excavate on Osgood St. near the corner of Massachusetts ATe. BIDS: Specifications were advertised for 2 new cruisers and one two ton truck for the P~lice Dept. and Moth and Tree Dept. respectively. Bids opened at 7:30 p.m. March 19th .and will close 7:30. p.m. 'on April 2, 1962. MASS[ DEPT. OF PUSLYC WORKS: Re Speed Control; A 'conference was suggested between the State Engineering Personnel, our Chief of Police, and the Selectmen to 4iscuss means and ways of controlling the speed limit on our. local highwa2s. Letter from above-named stated that a 203 home subdivision is planned, along with two access roads onto Bradford Street. A hearing date on the project will be set and the town, as en abutter, will be notified. HOUSE MOVING PETITION: Cristaldi. Mr. Angelo Oristaldi, 92 Putnam St. ask permission to move two houses from Bruce Street, up Massachusetts Avenue. to Glenwood Street and the other on Feruwoed Street. He was asked to appear before the Board next week. In the meantime, the utilityc~mpaules, ~Lawlar and Daw and Tree Warde~ Lafond were to he notified and asked for ~h~ reports and reco~endations
