COUNTY ~NGINEER; The Board received a petition to be approved by them on the need of reconstruction of Salem St. COMMENDA~TONS: Police Dept. and Fire Dept. The Board received letters of ccmmemdation for the fine work the Police and Fire Departmants displayed in separate occasions; Police Dept. in locating a family on Plum Island in an emerg- ency and the Fire Department in their promptness in putting out a i~Lre in the American Legion Building om Middlesex Street. GL~P~ES FOS2ER, ~IMENG INSPECTOR: A report containing the approval of the Building Ymspector of the Pines Motel for a sign to erected on the property of Willim~ Eent & Sons was received by the Board. He stated he sent a notice of this approval to the State Division of Outdoor Advertising. CONGRESSMAN LANE: ¢C~GRES~I~AL RECORD: June 7, 1962. A copy of the Congressional Record containing an article on Simon and Anne ~ra~street, the oPfhillips Family, and John Momtgcmer, of the North Parish, Andover, Nansachusetts, a brief the historical background of the Town cf North Andover. The regular/meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held on this date at 7:30 p.m. with all members presant, C~airman Finneran presiding: ME~P~IMACK'~EX ELECTRIC COMPAN~: Notice was received by the Board that lights were installed on Johnson Street near the Rt. 114 intersection. Also that they would petition the State Deportment of P~bllc Works for a pole location on Osgood Street (State road, Rt. 125) and corner of Great Pond Road in order to in- stall:a 21,000 lumen light at that intersection. LAWR~ICE GAS EOMPANY: Permission was granted the above-nm~ed company to excavate to install gas mains in 5 locations; Patent, Gilbert, and Francis Streets were involved. LAND C0~T: COMMONWEAL~ OF MASS. .T~o releases se~t the Board re town residents were forwarded to Town Counsel. OFF~CE C~ COONTY ~GINEER: MR. CARLIN - SALEM STREET: Proposed plans were recived by the Board on the =econstrnction and widening of Salem Street. The Board plans to have Mr. Cerlin, assistant County ~hginee~, and Mr. Harold F. MacWillis~s, District Highway Engineer from Danvors, present at a hearing meeting on this matter, 8:1~ p.m. on July 9, 1962, in the Selectmen,s Office. Some 21 abutters will be notified sad presant at this meeting. WEST~ItN ELECT~C CO., INC.: This co .mpany notified the Board with invitations of a vacation safety fair to be held at th&t~ plant on July 1st in conjunction with the MaSsachusetts Safety Council. Chairmsm Finnerau commended, the company on their civic mindedness.
