SECRETARY OF STATE:
A statement of Facts concerning for one G. Morgano was requested by Secretary Kevin White
and referred to G~ief Lawlor, a report being requested.

The above-named proclamation was referred to United Nations D.aY. Chairman, Rev. Brown.
SARGENT STREET MEMORIAL:
A report from Town Clerk, John J. Lyons, stated that a check of town records from 1916-1921
had revealed no history of .a memorial. Residents and Mm. Leo Marphy, however, disclosed that in
1917 a committee for the neighborhood memorial had consulted the selectmen and apparently the
Board gave them the "Go-Ahead" as a patriotic measure. From then on private contributions and
labor established the memorial. The town was never responsible to its upkeep. The questior~.
whether to keep the plot of grass intact, or to plow it under for traffic safetyfs sake and~
place a plaque in memorial on a nearby post was discussed and tabled until next meeting.
LAWRENCE GAS CC~ANY:
~ormtssion was grandted the company to excavate at 396 Andover Street and at 330 and 334
Road.
STREET ACCEPTANCE REQUEST: %=LNUT AV'~IUE.
Mr. Thomas McEvoy and Louis Detora submitted a petition signed by residents of ~=~ut Avenue to
have it accepted as a town way. It was accepted for proces~ for annual Town l{eeting.
~O~ AND COUNTRY PARADE: SEPT.23,1962.
John Lyons reported that WesternEla~trtc, J.' P. Stevens, Davis & Farber, Glennies M~lk, and
Meadowbrook Laundry will all have floats in the parade. He hopes that Mr. Chandler wlll have
the High School Band participate.
NO-HUNTING SIG~S:
Chief Lawlor reports that the No-Hunting signs ,me being prepared and will be installed' shortly.
I~itchell Bootman, gas-inspector was not being informed of new gas services being ~talled; the
Board voted to ask Bootman and Charles Foster, ~]]ding Inspector, to work together so that =
proper inspections will be in order.
GP~EAT PC~D ROAD:
Selectman Broadhead said that the newly-constructed Great Pond Road, 2~ miles of it, was
creating a traffic hazard because of the lack of ~hite lines to divide the road. Chief
La~¢lor was requested to investigate the probable cost of, painting..the necessary ~ite Limes."

Mr. McEvoy submitted an extensive and edify~ report on the playground activiti.~s of this
and among other statistics related that they had serv§d .7~6 ,bfldren (registered) at the five
playgrounds. A new playground was opened this y~ar, that of the Airport ~ea. A-total of 330
children went on the trip to Pleasure Imt~d which entailed 5 busses. The report in itself was
a tribute to the Town and the organizational abilities of Mr. McE~oy.
