The regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen.was held on this date with all members present~
Selectmen Fred Po Oakes, Raymond Broadhead with Chairman Finneren presiding.
HEARING:
Approval for storage of gasoline underground was tabled for H. Whipple pending inspection of
tank by!~e Chief Daw who requested tank be uncovered so tank can be properly inspected.
TREE HEARING:
Permission was granted Mass. Electric Co. to remove three trees for land clearance for wires
that on town property. They will give the Tree Dept. credit for the value of the trees for
replacements elsewhere.
JUROR:
A juror was chosen for Superior Civil Court for July 8,1963 sitting by Selectman Oakes.

R~UEST:
A request for a wooden street sign to replace a defective one on Glenwood Street was received
and approved.
Invitations w~ze received from the Memorial Day Committee for the Selectmen to 'participate
the Memorial Day parade and services, May 30th. Also:*recsived by the Selectmen was an

TOWN COUNSEL: CONFLICT OF INTEREST LAW
A letter from Arnold Salisbury on the above-named matter stated forms had been left in the Town
Clerk's office for any employee to fill out who wished to sell anything to the

Chief La~Ior reported that the requested "Go-Slow, Children Sigh" had been erected on Forest St

COMMERCIAL PARKING FEES:
A report submitted by the Chief of Police indicated that three parties allowed parking on their
premises all charging $1.00 per car, per week. They are ~mris's Drive In, Farkas Gulf Station,
Montgomery Service Station all on Osgood Street. The matter was referred to the Licensing
Board who will set fees at their next meeting.
REP. PETTE~TO RE TP~C LIGHTS: AND SPEED C~TROL FOR NE~ SCHOOL.
A telegram recelwed by the Selectmen from Rep. Petteruto stated that D.P.W. Traffic Eng. F. W.
Chase is aware of the five requests pertaining to the new school opening and promised that he
would contact Police Chief Lawlor to make necessary surveys. --
MORRIS STREET:
A petition from Norris Street residents for installing sewer was referred to T~wn Clerk IVons
for checking of signatures.
SAL~ STREET:
A legal notice was sent to-Selectmen that advertissd for sealed proposals re reconstruction of
Salem Street.
BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS:
A notice to the fact that the American Legion Beach at Stevens Pond will be opened on Ju~e 20
with the full staff of life guards was received from Mr. Duffy.
IIA%~E GAS CO. & HIGHWAXLDEPT.
The Selectmen requested that Mr. ~oebel of the Gas Company and Ira Carty of the Highway Dept.
meet with them on Monday, May 27, to discuss excavations on Dale, Appleton and Salem Streets.
The meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
