AML ~~*~ Clerk 241 February 25, i969 The regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held on this date, Tuesday, for the severe snow storm on Monday preventing attendance, the usual date was postponed. Ail butone member~ of the Board were present...Selectmen William A. Finneran, ; W. with Chairman Arthur p. Kirk presiding. The Warrant was approved a SNOW REMOVAL ~G~NCY DECLARED AT 2:25 P.M., FEBRUARY 24, 1969, by the BOARD OF SELECT~N. ~O CAPITAL OUTLAy .REPORT: ~.O Atty. Charles ~. Trombly, Jr., Cheirman of the Capital Outlay Committee submitted their ~- annual report at?the Selectmen 's meeting. The report was excellent and the Board voted to ~ send Mr. Trambly and his committee, a letter expressing their appreciation and thanks for ~ their time-consuming efforts. The Board also voted to send a copy of the report to the ~ Town Reporter,who was snow-bound, for publication before the annual Town Meeting. CONGRESSMAN BAT~: The Board received a reply to their letter of February llth in which they requested a meeting with Congressman Bates to discuss the problems of the proposed anti-missile site. Mr. Bates, in his letter, expressed his wish to c~ooperate inevery way with the Board but suggested, at the present time, that it would be advisable for the Board to forward to him the questions which ~the Board had in mind he would contact the appropriate officials of government for a reply to them. He said, also, that he would keep in close touch with the Board in regard to the Site. The Board voted', to send the first three reports received from the Board of Public Works, Tree Warden and the Conservation COmmission and would forward reports as received. A telephone conversation with Bill Hogan, Congressman Bate's Executive Se~etary, on February 27th assured the Board that the requested meeting with Mr. Bates would be first on the agenda, Nonday, March 3, when Congressman Bates ~etu~ned. The Board impressed upon him their willingness to fly to Washington, for the Cunvenience of Congressman Bates, with other appropriate technical personnel, if desired. NE~ POLICE STATION: A letter received from Horace James recommending that the requested 38 day extension for F~ed DeLisio be denied was approved by the Board who instructed that a letter be sent with their concurrence and that Mr. James appraise Mr. DeLisio of the vote of denial. S~"T~ET LIGHT REQUEST.: Henry Fink requested a better street light on poles 2025 and 2026, corner of Hillside Rd. and Rt. 125. He stated the corner was dimly lighted and several accidents had occurred at this location. The Board Voted to requsst a survey for same. SALEM STREET REC~STRUCTION: A list of bids for 1969 reconstruction of Salem Street was received by the Board. The Board voted to have the DPW award the bid to the lowest, most responsible bidder. On the list, George Brox was the lowest bidder. BUILDING DATA NOTICE: A notice from the U. S. Department of Commerce listed North Andover as being forth with building permits granted Over $200,O0~.out of 69 municipalities. North ~ndover was listed with the amount of $3,314,000. TRAFFIC CONTROL: A letter received from the Dept. of Public Works re traffic control was referred by the Board to Chief Lawlor. INSURANCE: A brochure received by the Board on Republication of Insurance Rules & Regulartions was referred to the Town InsurS~ce agent, Richard Lafond. CO~dNrTY TELE~SION SERVICE: A telephone message conveyed by a Miss Miller, secretary to Mr. Hoffman of Cablevision Corporation of America, Boston, Mass. was received by the Board. Mr. Hoffman was unable to attend the meeting, as arranged, because he was on vacation in ~Perta Rico. The Board voted to send a letter to Mr. Hof£man to the affect if he was unable to appear at their March 3rd meeting, he was to submit a letter by Narch ?th, at %:00 P.M. or his petition would not be acknowledged.
