Flnneran and Arthur p. Kirk with Chairman ~lliam B. Duffy, Jr., Presiding. The Warrant was Dpproved as submitted. COUNCIL FOR AGING: Members of the Council for Aging, headed by their Chairman, James McDonald, met with the Board of selectmen to co~emorate,,Sanior Citizens Month,., the month of May, declared by President N~-xon and Governor Sargent. A photographer from the Eagle-Tribune, requested by Mr. McDonald, made an appearance and took pictures of the group. During the week of May 19-24, the Council will sponsor a display of handiwork by North Andover's Senior Citizens, at the former location of Vara's Gift Shop on Ms~n Street. CONGREESMAN WILLIAM BATES - MONSIGNOR LONG: Thank you letters from the above-named were received by the Board for best wishes sent by them. GAS EXCAVATI~: A petition for gas excavations on Rt. 114, a State street, was referred to the proper authori~ by ~he Board. Chief Lawlor stated a police officer was necessary at the time of excavation. MASS. BAY TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY: A letter received by theBoard from the MBTA, enclosing bill for co,unity cost of of passengers, in the amount of $138.90, was approved by the Board. Another letter advised the Board that theAuthority was presently negotiating with the railroad: to extend its present agreements beyond July 31, 1969 to July 31, 19?O...they also advised tha. the train fares would be ~-uereased; a ebhedule of the new fares was ~nclosed. Selectmen ~rthur p. Kirk stated that he was opposed to the fare increase. EAS~IENT, SAL~ STREET: A letter from .~up't. Duffy asked to be advised on an easement to maintain and repair an exist- ing water main between 547 and 595 Salem Street. This was a section of Salem Street that was deeded to the abutting property owners, August 10, 1967. DISASTER CC~ITTEE: ~. Copies of two letters to Chiefs Daw andLawlor from the Red Cross Disaster Commlttae re plans for co~unication were received by the Board. NOTICES RECEIVED: Copy of letter to Louis Kimea, 1001 Turnpike St. re swamp filling project, referred to the Conservation Commission end Planning Board. · Dept. of Correction re annual Prison InduStries meeting, May 21, 1969. 82nd annual Chamber of Commerce dinner, Tuesday, May 27th. Selectmen Kirk and Flnneran will NN~ POLICE STATIG~ DEDICATION: attend. Notice sent to Chamber. Selectman Arthur p. Kirk announced that the police department would move to their new building on May 16, 1969, and that the dedication of the new police station would take place on June 2, 1969, at 3:00 P.M. JUdge Bacigalupo will be the Speaker for the dedication. SPECIAL TO~N MEETING: A Special TOWn'Meeting was called by the Board to be held on Monday, June 2, 1969, at 8:00 P.M in the North Andover High School. The ~arrant was opened at 8:45 P.M. and will include 9 ~ Articles. The Board voted-to have a survey for improved street lighting, vicinity of the~residence of Mrs. Joseph Candiano, 105 Autran Avenue.
