The warrant and minutes were approved as submitted. TOWN COUNSEL APP'T.: The Board selected Monday, April 5, as the date to appoint Town Counsel for the ensuing A designated committee of nine department heads will be so notified. PLA~V~U2~G BOARD: A letter from the Planning Board advised the Selectmen that John J. Monteiro had been appointed its representative to the Central Merrimack Valley Regional Planning .District Commission. They recommended appointment of William Chepulis, Jr. by the Selectmen as the alternate North Andover representative to that Commission. The appointment was tabled until March 29, 1971. Other appointment applications were also received. CIVIL DEFENSE: Daniel J. Shine, Mass. Civil Defense Director sent Board a letter offering his services re the appointment of the Town's Civil Defense Director. APPRECIATION-P ~ GAROFOLI: Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Garofoli, sent a letter of appreciation and thanks to the Board for their efforts which resulted in the quick resolving of the relocation of electric lines on the new high school property. GAS EXCAVATIONS: Petitions were approved by the Board to excavate for gas service installation and gas main repairs at 1289-1550 Salem Streets and at 56 Elm St. and 36~ Sutton Street. · INSURANCE: A letter from R. C. Lafond, Insurance Chairman, on the Town's Comprehensive General Coverage was tabled once more until the March 22nd meeting. A meeting date with Mr. to discuss this matter will be set then. LAND COUR2: A notice was received by the Board re a hearing in Land Court on the petition of Mr. and Douglas Wilson ~o determine boundary lines of their property. The Board referred the notice to Town Counsel for his perusal and comment. SUI~ER INTEPJ~S: A letter from the State Dept. cf C o~mmnity Affairs re summer internship of graduate and undergraduate students in town goveremen~ was tabled until March 22nd meeting. ESSEX AGGIE RESU~: A resume of Essex A~F!~~._~.~ --te~ -J'- ' --- ': The Board voted ~o re- fer the resume to the Superintendent of Schools for proper distribution. M~.T.~M STATE S~UDENT REQUEST: A questionaire from Salem State Students was tabled until the March 22nd meeting. Kirk will study the request further during the week. Chairman NOTICES RECF~VE~: Moeting, March 18, Merrimack Valley Planning Commission. Special election of Treasurer. Legislative information from Mass. Selectmen's Association. A letter will be sent to Mrs. Oliver, Ex. Sec. of the Mass. Selectmen's Association, advising them of the new mem- ber of the Board, Joseph A.-Guthrie. North Andover Commnity Center schedule of events. Brochure - North Atlantic Regional Water Resources Study. Referred to the Public Works. Lawrence Chamber of Commerce bulletin. BLDG. APPEALS CO~ITTEE: A letter from the Building Inspector, Charles H. Foster, Jr., advised the Board of an im- portant meeting on "pre-fab" or component housing to which he had invited the town inspec~- ors and other related departments. He recommended the B card send a lem~er to the appointed by the Selectmen urging them to attend. ~The Board so voted. The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 30th, in the Town Building, 7:30 P.M. THO)BON SCHOOL - PARKING: Selectman Joseph A. Guthrie reported to the Board that the Thomson School teachers were complaining that, though they were complying with the"No Parking"rule in front of the school, others were not. The matter was referred to Chief Lawlor. APPOINTMENT NOTICE: A letter was sent from this office by Chairman Kirk to town committee members and requesting that they indicate whether they wish to be reappointed or not. Applications should be in by March 22nd. Date of appointments has been set for March 29th.
