WO.~K EXPERIENCE PROGRAM:
Letter from Community Action Council, Inc. requested names or lists of names of any eligible
area citizens who have a need to receive the services of their Home Improvement Project.
Service is geared to provide, free of cost, the labor and expertise required for the repair
or imp~vements to private homes of low income people, especially t~e elderly, who could not
otherwise afford the cost. This program not only provide free services to those in need, it
would provide employment to unemployed who could be trained. Service would provide the use
a skilled tradesperscn and a crew of up to ten trainee-participants. Home owners must assume
the cost of all materials needed. Board voted to send copy of letter to Joyce Heereman, Town
Reporter, for the North Andover news.

Application bf Edw~d~ Provission for renewal of 2 licenses (cab) one to be transferred to
his son, Joseph Provissio, to be located at the rear of i29 Main St. (Finneran's Drug Store)
Present in opposition to the 129 Nain Street location were Vincent Zanders, June Tho~-~D~n,
Frank Smith, Doris Richardson, Paul Thornton all who stated the same protest. . .that the area
was very congested with the bus stand and parked autos ...stated that if ambulance or firemen
had to come through area they wottld have a difficult time. Philip Clark, owner of 6 cabs,
obJected...stated there were enought taxies in town. Selectman McEvoy stated that he was not
against anyone ma.t~_ng a living but the area ~ras cor~ested enought with 14 postal trucks in
the area and it was not safe or feasable to have a cab located in that area. Coady and
voted to deny application. Edward Provission ~as renewed the two cab~ licenses in the area
1591 Osgood Street. Brian .~van is to report 1 month from now on traffic congestion of
areas
MISSILE SITE:
John Lunqueil appeared before the Selectmen once more re missLle site target practice. · After
discussion the' Board voted to write to Town Counsel requesting a ruling revelant to the.
duties of the town Police Dept. regarding State Property. Chief Lawlor has stated he does
not have Ju~. sdiction over any state owned p. roperty.~ ~ .~

APPOINTMENTS:

Robert H. Pangione was reappointed to the Capital Budget Co.~..:ttee, term 5 years.
ALEX ATHANAS MEETING:
Ros=lte Rnggiero, 7 Gleason Street and Alex Athanas, 2 N. Tanglewood Way, Andover, Mass. met
with the Selectmen to discuss the aims and purposes of the organization they represented
The Citizens League for Adult Special Servies, a non-profit organization. Purpose of the
~ervices is to enlist aid for th~ training'and care of retarded adults, especially those
are being turned out of institutions after the age of 22. Mr. Athanax stated they were seek-
ing the aid of the surrounding communities, that North Am/over was the first Board they had
~ed of
