Joseph Guthrie announced he had received a letter of'resignation from Andrew Voris 181
as the town's Veterans Agent due to personal reasons. The Board accepted, with regret.
Mr. Voris advised the Chairman that he would continue in his duties until another Agent
had been appointed. Mr. Vorls was appointed on August 16. Brian Sullivan will notify
previous applicants that there applications will be considered again and that they hope
the radio station and paper will note that there is a vacancy to be filled.
?d~COU~E:
Town Clerk informed the Board that he would conduct a recount on September 27 as reqested
by candidates who ran in the Primary, Tuesday, Sept. 14.
BUILDING INSPECTOR:
C. Foster, members of the Board of Appeals and Fritz Ostherr conferred with the Board about
moving the Building Inspector's office upstairs to a larger office as they had previously re-
quested. It was stated that the Building Inspector's office depended on reference to the
Planning Board files and that the two offices should not be separated. After much discussion~
the Board stated that they would discuss the matter further and let the people concerned know
of their decision.
LICENSING COMMISSIONERS:
~squest from Patricia O'Connor, Manager and owner of all of the issued and outstanding stock
of Clayton F. Strobel, Inc. d/b/a Patty's YeLlow Ribbon to pledge said stock to North Accept-
ance Corp. 23 Central Ave.,..~yan, Mass. as security for a loan tothe corporation was discussed
Motion was made and seconded that the request be approved subject to certain contingincies
being resolved. Evidence must be produced that all of the stock is owned by Miss O'Connor.

The Board of Selectmen held their regular meeting on this date with all members present;
Selectmen John F. Coady, Thomas J. McEvoy with Chairman Joseph A. Guthrie presiding. The
warrant and minutes were approved as submitted.
TRAFFIC CO~ROLLER BIDS: O
Tw~ bids were received for furnishing and installaing traffic controller at intersection of
Waverly Road and Massachusetts Avenue. Bids received from Traffic Systems - $7,500. and
LeBarron, Inc. - ~4,997. Bids were referred to Chief Lawlor and Town Counsel for reco~nenda-
tion.and validity.
CON~JtT INSTALIATION:
Hearing on application of New England Tel. & Tel. Co. to install 50 feet of conduit across
Boston Poad. Approved.
APPODEM~NTS:
Daniel J. Leonard, Esq. appointed alternate member to the Board of Appeals to fill vacancy
caused by the resignation of Mr. Janakowski.
VETEP~lmS AGENT:
To fill the position of Veteran's Agent cau§ed by the resignation of Mr. Andrew Voris, the
Board voted that it would be by ballot vote. Clerk, Thomas J. NcE~oy, read the first votes,
1 for James NaGutre, 1 for I.;illiam Emmett and 1 for Joseph Willis. A second vote was taken,
read by Mr. ~Evoy: 1 f6r James MaGuire and 2 for Joseph Willis. Motion was made and second.
ed to appoint Mr. ~4illis, Veterans Agent. The vote was made unanimous. Mr. Willis will start
his duties on October 1, 1976. Mr. Voris will work with him until October 15.

CHARLES EVANS AGREemeNT:
Agreement signed by the Board and Charles Evans for reclassification of employee positions.
To be referred to Town Counsel as to legality of agreement.
CHESTNUT STP~T:
Dr. and Mrs. Michael Bralower and other residents of Chestnut Street presented themselves
end a petition to the Board in protes~ of the condition of the Chestnut Street where they
live which was left in very poor condition by Greenwood Construction company who built their
homes. Sam P~ader, Arthur GouT~ ~ Mansi, Phil Busby and Mr. O'ConneLi all protested the
state of the read. Mr. Cyr said he did his share of the read. ~Mr. Osgood stated that he
had put thousands of dollars more that budgeted to put drainage, etc. in the road. He is
wLlling to go 50-50 with the Highway Surveyor to finish road but Mr. Cyr disagrees. ~r.
Coady offered to meet with Cyr and Osgood to try and resolve the problem. It was up to
them to set the meeting. A letter will be sent to Town Co.unsel to as as to whether or not
the Selectmen have any authority to act for the To~m in thins matter, particularly, pertaining
to any legal action the Selectmen might take.
