Guthrie with Chairman A. P. Kirk presiding. The minutes and Warrant were appro.ved as submitted. BLUE CROSS- BLUE S~.[[ELD: A letter ~of confirmation sent by B.. Cross representative, John ~Cabe,~ estimated the additional expense of a fuller program. Chairman Kirk will submit it to the Town Employees' representative for acceptance and/or discussion of same. RESIDUAL FUEL 0IL LEGISIATION: A letter from J. A. Leone & Sons commented ou the above-named legislation. Chairman Kirk had contacted Richard Heider of Cyr Oil Co. who would submit the company's recommendations on the i matter. Mr. Heider stated that he did no% think that the Town Building's #2 Fuel 0il was in- luded in the legislation. WGAS EXCAVATION: The Board approved a petition to excavate on W. Bradstreet Rd. in install gas services. AG DAY REQUEST: The Board approved a request from Central Catholic High School. orgainizatiau to hold Tag. Days ~.~ North Andover on Nay 27,28, and 29. Letter to that effect ~as sent with a copy to Chiei Law!$r. CONSERVATION COMMISSION APPOI~,VfS: - Leo. Lafond and Arthur Resca were appointed as members of the Conservation Commission, term ~o be 3 yrs. The Gr. Lawrence Community Action appointment xeas tabled until Selectman. Duffy perusec the matter'further. Selectmen Kirk and Guthrie s~rongly urged the appointment of Jos~ who has been kigb_ly commended on his~work as a member of the commission. SUMMER OFFICE HELP: Upon the recommendation of selec~.m-u Guthrie, the Board.voted approval of the services of Jane Letarte.in the selectmen's Office for ten weeks during the ~,-~er under sponsorship of the Neighborhood Youth Corp. There will be no expense to the Town. COMPLAINT: DOG. Donald D~_~-, 46 Francis Street, appeared before the Board to submit a complaint relative to a dog nuisance. The Board voted to send a letter to the Housing Authority informing them of the camplaint and asking what the policy of the Housing Authority was in re_~ation to pets in Veter- ans Housing areas. A copy of the letter ~s sent to the Bog Officer, S. AVEh~E ACCEPTANCE: Official notice was sent from the Mass. Dept. of Public Works of the acceptance .of Nass. Ave. by the Town of North Andover. The notice stated that the Commissiomers at their meeting on ~aroh 31, 1971, voted to discontinue a section of State Highway extending from Lawrence- No. Andover town line at Shawsheen Hiver Station 0+00 to Station lO0*O~.4S - Nort~ A~over Center, excluding that portion taken for Route 4~ State Highway purposes. The notice was forearded to Town Counsel for confirmation. CHAPTER 90 - SAT.~ ST. Notice of f~rst payment for the reconstruction of Salem Street was received -~ referred to the Highway Dept. for payment. FIlE HOP, N~ -' In reply to the Board's inquiry, Chief Daw advised +~* Board that it was not feasible to dis- continue the s~,~ng of the audible fire horns at Stevens Kill and the Central Fire Station until such time as there are no longer any Call Fir~_~n associated with the Fire Department. It was the Board of Eng,. nsere' reconffaendation that the horns, therefore, be used while this situation existed. PERSONNEL BOARD: The Board received a copy of a letter from Daniel J. Griffin, Chairman, who advised that, due to business commitments, he would be -~ble to serve as Chairman of the Personnel Board. Selec*-,~u Duffy, Jr. stated that he ~as not prepared at this time to recommend an appointment. JO~T POLE LOCATION: The Board set a hearing for a Joint pole location petition on Salem Street to ~e held on ~ay 24, at 7:30 p.N. Abutters to be notified. GAS EXCAVATION: The Board approved a petition to excavate on l~arbleridge Road to ius+~ 6" gas'~n. TREE RB~VAL .REQUEST: The Board approved a tree r~_-~val request from Henry Fary, 32Ashland Street, to make ~oom for a driveway. A hearing was set for ~fay 17, at 7L30 P.H.
