PE~I%NENT PATROLMAN LIST: The Board denied requests for leaves of absence from Robert Quinlin, Edward J. Scanlon and Daniel M. Quinlan upon recmmendation of Chief Joseph W. Amendment: As of June 29, 1971, the Board of Selectmen rescinded their action on the and then considered requests of the three men to withdraw their requests for leaves of ab- sence, Without prejudice. TOWN CLERK REPORt: The Town Clerk's re~port of the Special Town Meeting held June 21, 1971 was accepted by the Board. LAND-TARING, LAKE COCHICHNFICX: The Board voted to instruct Town Counsel, Arnold H. Salisbury, Esq., to accomplish the land- taking in regard to the Lake Cochichewick Protection Project and to handle this item, until it is evident that a trial is apparent. The Board appointed Attorney Phillip Arsenault, Jr., as Special Counsel to act for the Town in the so-called "Nary Spore" case ~nd authorized the ms~ expenditure of $500.00 for purpose. Atty. Arsenault is to contact the Board upon reaching that sum. The Board, in regard to the matter of the so-called '9{issile Site" did not take any action regard to the appointment of another Special Counsel. The Board instructed Selectman W.B. Dully, Jr. to confer With Town Counsel and report back to the Board the res~/~t of this coP. ference · MASS. ELECTRIC CO. POLE: The Board set a hearing for July 12, 1971, at 7:30 P.M. on a petition to inst~11 1 pole on Sutton Street. TRAFFIC PRO~.~M- TURNPIKE AND BEERY STREET: The Boated authorized Chairman Kirk to communicate ~ith the State D.B.W. in regard to a traffic problem at Turnpike and Berry Sts. and to request that traffic signals be installed as recommended by the Chief of Police. When and if these signals are authorized, the Board will consider installing appropriate street lighting in that area. nATRy QUEEN: The Board agreed to discuss a citizen complain+, in regard to the Dairy Queen area at our regular meeting on July 12, 1971. Sedack. Mr. Sedack bruke the department's water hydraut with his car en October 16, 1970. The BOard of Selectmen voted to awar~ the sum of eighty dollars ($80.00) to ~ichard J. 30 Railroad Street, lawrence, Mass. on his car dmmage claim. Angelo R. Fisichella, Esq., attorney for Mr. Power was so notified and sent a general release form to be executed Power before check for same can be processed. Alice M. Letarte, Secretary-~=: - _- -~: _ Clerk JULY §, 1971 EDA PROGRAN: On July 8,1971, a letter was sent by Chairman Kirk to Robert A. Podesta, Assistant Secretary for Economic Development. The letter was a ,'Notice of Intent" requesting participation in the Economic Development Administration. The Town of North Andover is q,,-ltfied as a (Title I) area under the Public Works and Eccnm~ic Development Act of 196~. The letter made a cf the fact that, in order to be officially designated, it will be necessary to form a committee representative cf the various public and private interests within our area to formulate an area-wide, overall economic development program (O~DP/}~
