MERRIMACK VALLEY HOUSING DEVELOPMENT:
A letter received from a private, non-profit organization called the Merrimack Valley
Housing Development Corporation informed the Board that their program concerned itself
with bringing together six to ten families agreeing to provide each other with help in
building each other's homes. The program is financed by the Farmers Home Administration
and requires self-help labor. They requested names of families who were eligible. The
Board voted to refer copies of the letter to committees involved and to the Housing Auth-
ority.
Letter received from the Gr. Lawrence Ecumenical Area l~inistry, Inc. invited the Board to
a meeting on ~une 3rd when a program would illustrate what G.L.E.A.M. is doing and planning
to do. The Board vote to post the invitation on the bulletin board.
APPOINTMENTS:

were appointed:

A replacement member to be appointed to the Town Charter Study Committee was tabled until
next meeting.
UN DAY 1973:
A letter was received re UMDay ~o be held in October, 1973. The Board Voted to send copy
of the letter to the High School Principal, Daniel Desmond, for his rocomaendations re
apPointment of a Chairman for the event.
YOUTH
NOF~H ANDOVEP~HOCKEYLEAGUE:
Upon motion of Selectman Coady, the Board voted to send a letter of congratulations to the
'North Andover Youth F~ckey League and their coaches, John E. Blackwell and Ted Ec~loon for
their fine season and e~cellent playing.
ADMINISTRATIVE-ASSISTANT:
Selectman John--Coady stated, because of Town Meeting action taken in March, 1973, he would
make a motion that the position of the Administrative-Assistant be terminated as of June ~,
1973. Chairman Guthrie asked if this motion would be seconded and Selectman John Kirk
stated that he would not second the motion. The matterwas concluded.
A discussionwas held again on the E.E.A. Program phase-out due to inquiries brought by
Sandra Kulpiuski. The phase out was again explained in detail to her.
MODULAR HOMES:
Building Insp~tor, Charles H. Foster, Jr., appeared before the Board
of inspection/f~odular homes. He stated many requests had been. coming ~o discuss the matter
in to his office for
installation of these homes. The problem existing was that wiring and plumhing inspections
could not be made because those areas were all built in or boxed in and '~unavailable for~
the necessary inspections. Prefab homes could be inspected because inside walls were not
on when house~ected. The Board advised that the Building Code Committee meet and discuss
this problem and submit their reco~endations to the Board. A meeting was tentatively set
for August 16, 1973.
LICENSING COMMISSIONk~S:
The Board approved the application for renewal of a
Restaurant, Inc., 188 Turnpike Street.
