The Board of Selectmen held their regular meeting on this date with all members present; Selectmen John F. Coady, John P. Kirk with Chairman Guthrie presiding. The warrant was approved as submitted. POLE LOCATION: Petition approved for pole location on Stevens Street, 612' north of Great Pond Boad. Board instructed Mass. Electric to contact Mr. Donald Downs. GAS EXCAVATION: Gas excavation approved to install gas services at 42 Autran Ave., subject to Chief Lawlor's approval. SCHOOL BUDGET: Pmceived: Letter from Town Counsel re School Dept. Budget Case. PEDESTRIAN OVERPASS: Letter from Town Counsel received re ~minent Domain Proceedings- Pedestrian Overpass. .following procedure was taken: ~ ~ ,. Upon motion du2y made and seconded, it was unanimously VOTE~: The 1) To execute that O~,der of Taking, prepared by Town Counsel, by the terms of which, acting under the authority to us given by the Town's vote upon Article 37 of the Warrant for the 1973 Annual Town Meeting, we now take in fee' simple, in the name and behalf of said Town, for the2purpose of constructing a pedestrian .qv~erpass across Chickering Road into the grounds of the North Andover High School, all as set out in said Article, by right of eminent domain, that parallelogram of land (in its present condition, including all trees thereon) containing 0.2973 acres, more or less, shown on that plan of land recorded at t~e Registry of Deeds for the Northern Registry District of said County as Desk Plan No. 6896, and to make the following awards of damages and "tax awards" in connection with said .taking: Supposed Claimant Damage Award Tax Award Total Award G.A.R. RECOMMENDATION: Affirmative recommendation received from Chief Lawlor on Cerificate of Incorporation. BOARD OF T~ADE: Letter received from Board of Trade re town's Bicentennial Observance. Voted that copy of letter be sent to Bicentennial Commission with copy of covering letter to be sent to Board of Trade, with thanks. BLDG. INSPECTOR: Letter received from Civil SerVmce qualifying Building Inspector for position. tabled until Chairman clarifies letter. (Should be full-time, not part-time. ) Letter LAW. AIRPORT COMMISSION: Letter received from Lawrence Airport Commission re aircraft danger from birds congregating over ranways from nearby dumps. Selectman Coady will confer with Highway Surveyor on the matter and report back to the Selectmen. LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS: Invitation received from the League of Women Voters to attend public meeting on Land Use in Massachusetts to be held Oct. 11, 7:30 p.m., Voc. School. The Board voted to communicate with Mrs. Roberts saying the Board would make every effort to attend.
