The Board will make every effort to attend. COP~.~J:fITY TRUSTEES: Letter from Henry Green, President of Community Center Trustees, concerning the property located at 33 Johnson Street received by the Board. Board voted to send letter stating it was their intention to pursue the future use of these facilities and would like a meeting with the Board of Trustees at a time that would be convenient for them. JAYC EES: R. Doucette attended a meeting with the Board on town building space. He also ,eques~ed the B card to be present at 7 p.m. on Wednesday night when pictures would be taken of the Employee of the Year as chosen by the N. A. Jaycees. TOWN CLERK: Letter to the Board advised them that the present Janitor could no longer carry on his duties. Board voted to advertise for a janitor to be named at next meeting. Mr. Lyons also forwarded a suggestion for the Bicentennial Observations which will be sent to the Committee on this matter. RESIGNATION: Letter from Allen Gesing, resigning as Graves Registration Officer, was received with regret. Letter of thanks and appreciation for his services to the town will be sent. LICENSING CONFffSSION: On application for reappointment of Clinton P. Vose, as N.A. Civil Constable, the Board voted to send copy of Town Counsel's letter,which states that the Board does not have the authority to appoint Civil Constables, to Mr. Vose and requesting him to withdraw his application. Notice of Public Hearing received re request for permission of Hudson Bus Linesfto travel over streets in North Andover. Licensing Board Chairman, Jq~n P. Kirk with Chairman Joseph A. Guthrie presiding. The warrant and minutes were approved as submitted. TOWN FLAG: Nicholas Artimovich, 998 Salem St., met with the Selectmen to discuss t~e creation of a Town Flag. Mr. Artimevich presented two samples of what the flag could consist of and the project ~as discussed. It was suggested that a contest be held for adults and students alike to sub- mit their ideas, one to be chosen By an appointed committee. The Selectmen voted to co~unicate ~ith the Bicentennial Co~=&ssion asking if they would like to supervise the project or have the Selectmen select another committee. DANGEROUS~ ~LE: Letter received from J. Benkover re the dangerous opening in front of Carroll's Restaurant. He advised the Selectmen t~at the responsibility to correct this condition lies with the. developers Shopping Center as it is on private property. The Town has the right to have the condition under the law, Ch. 84, S. 27A for the safety of the general public. The Board voted to have Selectman Coady contact the developers to correct this situation. DISPOSAL SITE: Letter from Highway Surveyor, W. Oyr, stated that it was the opinion of the N.A. Solid Waste Committee t~at it would not HO in the interests (best) cf the town to enter into a regional site proposal or to allow Lawrence to dump refuse in North Andover. He advised the Board .that they had received a proposal from Camp Dresser and McKee to do a study for landf.~]l sites in N. A. and had received a transfer of $8000 from the Reserve Fund to pay for this study. The Selectmen... voted to endorse the action of the N. A. Solid Waste Committee and instructed Mr. Cyr to contact~ Mr. Albis, Chairman of tho ~awrenoe Committee, Zo advise him of the town's negative decision. The Board also signed the necessary contract to have Camp, Dresser and McKee conduct the study for the town's future landfill site. NEW APPEALS BOARD: "' ~ Letter from Building Inspector re appointment of new Appeals Board tabled from last meeting.. it was voted to hold appointment of this Board until regular appointment time. RECEIVED: Reports from Building InSPector, Wire Y. uspector and Gas Inspector. Chairman Guthrie r~marked that the reports showed these, departments are more than self-supporting. Notice of price increases in gasoline tank prices from Gulf Oil. Character reference from Chief Lawlor re certificate of incorporation - George Sehruender.
